The Role

JG5 China & Other IG ventures Finance Advisor supports end to end R&A accountabilities for Shell China Exploration and Production Limited (SCEPCo) Corporate and Functions team, with close interface and collaboration with Integrated Gas Finance in Business & China Business Functions, Treasury and Legal. 

This incumbent reports directly to the China & Other IG East Ventures Lead. The successful candidate must possess strong communication skills and be capable of developing highly effective relationships with various stakeholders.

The Finance Analyst will be a part of an impactful connected team, supporting the Corporate & Functions Lead as well as working with senior business contacts to address scenarios and specific business challenges. The finance Analyst will provide analysis to challenge the status quo, data analytics and business insights, financial reporting, MI cost recovery & support toward the SCEPCo cost allocation process including business specific process, improvement agenda and working collaboratively as an equal to influence the value drivers for that business and to support decision making. The role holder will have strong collaboration skills and the ability to influence senior Business and Finance professionals, the wider IGNE finance community, Treasury, Legal and FO Controllers. 

What's the role?

This role will have specific accountabilities with regards the support for SCEPCo Corporate & Functions. These include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain a transparent and effective financial framework, aimed at achieving business objectives, providing timely, fit for purpose, objective and transparent management and financial information
  • Provide business support throughout the stages of planning, target setting & budgeting, Latest Estimating including the inputs to Work Programme Budget (WPB)
  • Provide support across areas of Reporting, providing insights to the Business & alongside activities in the area of cost sharing and cost recovery
  • Support Corporate & Functions lead to perform regular reviews and take actions as required on IG and 3rd Party receivables and payables in China Corporate to achieve Group and internal targets by removing blockages, streamlining processes and enforcing accountabilities
  • Ensure financial controls are in place to enforce no value leakage, and ensure a robust cost allocation methodology and principles are in place to have a prompt of recovery of costs
  • Support further development of Touchless MI and drive high penetration on usage of tools
  • Participate in assigned business Leadership team and provide insightful financial and management information to the Business to enable decision making that leads to an improved business performance and cost management

What we need from you?

To be successful in this role you need a proven ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries, bringing different views together, finding an aligned approach forward, manage a wide agenda and effectively deal with conflicting priorities.

Furthermore, you will have:

  • Track record of performance and proven ability as a Self-starter to deliver quality results under significant time pressure and to tight deadlines whilst maintaining the required attention to detail
  • Passion for and understanding for Corporate & Functions matter, data analytics & management information
  • Commercial acumen to understand key drivers to ensure effective cost recovery and allocation
  • Strong communication skills, and ability to complex raw data into understandable key messages and insights for business stakeholders with a non-finance background.
  • Able to work across organizational boundaries with a diverse group of colleagues and stakeholders at multiple levels in the organization
  • Strong interpersonal skill to quickly build credibility, respect and rapport
  • Ability to work independently even when there is ambiguity or change
  • High capacity to prioritize key elements of a deliverables
  • Drive towards operational excellence, learning from other assets and sharing best practices

Skills and Requirements:

  • University degree in Finance/Accountancy/Economics or a related field. Professional qualifications as ACCA/CA/CIMA preferred
  • 5 to 8 years post qualification professional experience
  • Deliver results - take personal accountability to ensure timely and first-time right delivery of commitments of self and team
  • Champion customer focus and business partner - establish strong working relationships within the team and stakeholders
  • Maximize business opportunities - lead process to identify and embed within the team and implement simplification opportunities
  • Strong English and Mandarin communication (both oral and written) with proven ability to effectively challenge and influence senior management
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to determine the underlying issues and to relate them to the relevant financial and business principles and offer recommendations to optimize Total Shareholder Value
  • Experience of working in a virtual environment
  • MS Applications including Excel skills is must
