Our partner is a conservation organisation based in the DRC; they are seeking a head of internal audit, controls and compliance to review & strengthen internal processes & controls, ensuring effective risk management, and planning and undertaking internal audits.
Responsibilities
- Review and strengthen internal controls and processes, and leading on the implementation of recommendations.
- Prepare the annual internal audit plan, plan and undertake risk-based internal audits.
- Lead on preparing for grant audits & other compliance checks as required.
- Maintain the risk register, identify and report risk management issues, and provide recommendations to mitigate these.
- Support the unit undertaking ant-fraud, anti-bribery and other special investigations, and work with them in the implementation of the ethics and compliance programme.
Requirements
- Senior internal audit professional with at least 10 years of experience in developing internal controls, policies and procedures; leading on implementing changes in controls, policies and procedures; creating and managing an annual internal audit plan, including undertaking internal audits; meeting grants compliance frameworks & requirements, and preparing for grant audits.
- Experience of undertaking special investigations.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong organisational skills, able to work independently managing a varied workload & multiple projects, and work effectively in a complex, changing environment.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, able to communicate changes to and train/mentor finance and non-finance staff.
- High sense of integrity and ethics.
- Fluent in French & English
The individual will be based in Rumangabo, eastern DRC.
