MSL Motor Group currently wish to recruit a full time Trainee Accountant to join our Finance team, based on the Naas Road, Dublin 12. The role will predominately be within MSL with some duties within MDL, therefore reporting to the MSL Finance Director and MDL CFO.

Main duties and responsibilities to include:

  • Assisting in the completion of monthly management accounts (e.g., calculating and posting of journals and accruals/prepayments).
  • Assisting with the analysis of monthly P&L activity and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
  • Maintaining internal debtor's accounts.
  • Assisting in forecasting and analysing monthly and yearly sales, direct costs and overheads.
  • Assisting with audit preparation and completion of annual statutory accounts.
  • Assisting in planning, overseeing and finalising monthly and yearly stock counts.
  • Liaising with other departments and suppliers to resolve queries.
  • Preparing VAT, VIES and Intrastat returns.
  • Preparation of weekly and monthly stock and sales reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of bank reconciliations and processing payments.
  • Assisting in accounts payable, accounts receivable and treasury functions.
  • Participating in various process improvement initiatives and other ad-hoc projects as defined by the business.
  • Work closely with dealers and Mercedes-Benz factory colleagues to ensure all vehicle orders are placed and processed to the correct standard in a timely fashion.
  • Manage new model set-up, amendments in co-operation with The Revenue Commissioners.
  • Produce and manage reporting of vehicles on order and in stock.
  • Handle and control electronic CoC data.
  • Co-ordinate inbound and outbound shipping.
  • Updating and preparing of price files as needed.
  • Duties within both MSL and MDL.
  • General office duties within the Finance Departments.


The successful candidate will ideally:

  • Be pursuing or seeking to pursue a recognised professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA).
  • Have a minimum of 1 year's previous experience in an account's role.
  • Possess strong administrative and IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
  • Exhibit excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Be self-motivated and highly organised, with the ability to multi-task and prioritise work.
  • Be efficient, with good attention to detail.
  • Have a positive, enthusiastic, can-do attitude.
  • Work well as part of a team.
  • Be flexible in their approach to work.
