Hays Senior Finance is working with FPS Flexible Packaging Solutions, a global manufacturing business, to recruit a Financial Controller for their UK subsidiary based on Dalton Industrial Estate, near to Thirsk. FPS manufacture flexible packaging for businesses in a variety of sectors including chemicals, foods, pharmaceuticals and agriculture. With over 4,000 colleagues in 16 countries, 12 production plants and 15 sales locations, FPS have an extensive and integrated global manufacturing and distribution network providing technical expertise and local customer service.
Your new role
This is a varied and all-encompassing role where you'll manage the finance function of the UK subsidiary and work with the site general manager, commercial, and operations teams. Managing an Assistant Accountant, the Financial Controller will be responsible for general ledger accounting, reconciling balance sheet accounts, overseeing the accounts receivable and accounts payable function, month end close, monthly reporting, preparing VAT and tax returns, drafting the annual accounts, and coordinating the annual audit. You'll also be responsible for preparing the monthly cashflow forecast, preparing the annual budget and quarterly forecasts, and analysing and explaining variances.
What you'll need to succeed
The successful applicant will ideally be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or studying towards their qualification, who has worked in a manufacturing environment. You'll have excellent all round finance skills, coupled with great communication skills and be able to work independently and on your own initiative.
