Role/ Department:

The Corporate Audit Services team conducts audits throughout the company to provide independent and objective assurance, and consulting activities, that assess risks and protect the assets, reputation, and sustainability of Northern Trust. The Associate Auditor is responsible for conducting and documenting routine audit examinations throughout the company (with a focus on Risk Management and Compliance areas).

The role offers an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to contribute to the enhancement and further growth of the global Audit Services team. You will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative manner with audit partners globally, engage with senior stakeholders throughout the business, gain exposure across Northern Trust, as well as valuable insights into Northern Trust’s global business. This position will report locally to the Audit Manager in Limerick.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of Audit Services' Internal Audit Charter, Policy and Methodology and adheres to all applicable requirements within those documents
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Northern Trust’s global corporate functions, business units, products & services, operating environment and the associated business risks controls and processes
  • With supervision, conducts and documents walkthroughs and process flows, and identifies key risks and controls
  • With supervision, executes test steps, documents work in a concise manner, and evaluates results to assess the quality of the control and/or control environment
  • Demonstrates professionalism scepticism and judgment in all activities
  • Applies analytical skills to interpret information and determine potential control weaknesses
  • Maintains up to date understanding of the regulatory environment and relevant changes within the industry

Skills/ Qualifications:

  • A College or University degree and/or entry level auditing experience in a financial institution
  • An understanding of auditing/risk management activities and/or related work experience
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (e.g., report writing)
  • Results oriented, focused on completing high quality projects timely
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
