Job title: Standards Audit Unit - Auditor - HMP Kilmarnock

Location: HMP Kilmarnock, Mauchline Road, Kilmarnock KA1 5AA

Salary: £20628 per annum plus Serco benefits

Working hours: Permanent, Full-Time, 38 hours per week

HMP Kilmarnock is a 500-cell prison facility operated by Serco Ltd on behalf of the Scottish Prison Service under a contract with the Scottish Ministers. It is situated approximately three miles south-east of Hurlford in East Ayrshire. Housing a range of prisoner types, Kilmarnock is the local receiving establishment primarily taking prisoners from the Sheriff Courts of Ayr and Kilmarnock. Contracted to provide purposeful activity for the prisoners, Kilmarnock has an industries department comprising six work units, and provides work opportunities for both remand and convicted prisoners.

As the SAU Auditor you will co-ordinate effectively with colleagues, Senior Management Team and Staff in supporting the delivery of the contract and policies, minimum standards and procedures that the business operates within. You will undertake auditing of systems and processes in contribution to delivery of an SAU Audit Calendar to assure the establishment of compliance with customer requirements, HMIP, legislative requirements e.g., HSE&FM, Serco Management System (SMS) and other specific regulatory requirements along with targeted audits as required. You will also demonstrate innovation in identifying new audit streams and compliance checks to continually improve the service delivered by the Standards Audit Unit to the contract and wider Serco.

What you need to do the job

Firstly, you will need basis education i.e. GSCE in English and Mathematics. You will also need internal Audit qualification. You will need experience of planning, implementing and conducting audits and then reporting outcomes to inform key business decisions. You will be able to communicate effectively. Lastly, you will be able to adapt to a changing environment.
