Job purpose:

We are looking for a Russian and Ukrainian speaking Balance Sheet Control Analyst/Supervisor who will provide leadership and supervisory responsibility for a small operational team of support employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists in providing accounting guidance for Citi business units.
  • Assists in strengthening and providing controls by showing transparency of the Balance Sheet.
  • Identifies and resolves problems using autonomous judgment.
  • Implements work flow or process change and redesign and demonstrates thorough knowledge of the specific function.
  • Accountable for regular reporting or process administration as “owner”.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made
  • Supervision, training and development of Poland BSS team members
  • Preparing and leading Strategic Partner monthly presentations
  • Responsible for the accurate reporting of the status of the reconciliations owned into Citi reporting tool ‘eRecon’
  • Ensuring adherence of pre-defined risk control practices throughout reconciliation and proofing process.
  • Working with system support to improve process and address operational issues.
  • Reviewing work of the Proof Owner and review items that cause un-reconciled balances between the Subsidiary ledger and the General Ledger; the review also includes other balance sheet issues such as aging, unsupported and unconfirmed items, and abnormal balances
  • Ensuring that errors and issues for assigned accounts are identified, properly escalated and reported in a timely manner and coordinates these with Account Owners/Exception Owners from various units and businesses for corrective action, and advises them of preventive actions
  • Ensuring audit preparedness in all aspects of reconciliation and proofing for both internal and external audits & reviews. Understand how duties relate with others in the team/unit and how the unit integrates with others in accomplishing the work of the function.
  • Developing a strong working relationship with the internal Citi customers serviced by the unit including Account Owners, Controllers, Governance BSSG teams, Control Leads ensuring that high quality service standards are maintained, it includes metrics distribution, conduct customer service calls and initiate process improvements
  • Performs testing for system enhancements or resolutions to ensure that updates/changes will not disrupt the production process once implemented,
  • Participates in global various initiatives and projects across the countries and functions,
  • Supports Head of the Unit in other daily routine tasks.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Very good knowledge of Russian and Ukrainian language is absolutely essential due to the accounts the Incumbent will be working on.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Banking or Financial Institutions sector. For more experienced candidates (e.g. at AVP level), we may have more senior openings later in the year.
  • Good knowledge of controls and best practices
  • Must have a very good understanding of accounting process.
  • Must use knowledge to resolve difficult proofing issues.
  • Fluent English, both oral and writing (Corporate Citi language)
  • Well-developed problem solving / analytical/investigative skills
  • Desire to enhance the control environment and be able to meet deadlines
  • Communication skills including excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in MS Office with Advanced Excel skills
  • Knowledge of Citi used systems (general ledgers eg. Flexcube, Rainbow platform, subledgers etc).
  • Strong sense of accountability
  • Ability to work independently within a team environment.
  • Ability and interest to see the “bigger picture”, prioritize and put things in perspective
  • Comfortable communicating across teams, meeting objectives in a defined time frame and delivering results
  • Ambitious and willing to learn, able to quickly assimilate new information
  • Diplomatic and able to manage situations where conflicts of interest may arise
  • Able to handle tight deadlines and multitask, flexible with an ability to work under pressure

Education:

  • Degree in economy/accounting. Working towards a certification in accounting (ACCA, CPA or local equivalent) would be a strong asset.
