The Audit Service Department’s (“Department”) Professional Practices Group (PPG) is an independent function within the Northern Trust internal audit department that is responsible for overseeing audit operations (e.g., external reporting and Department-related requests, Departmental technology oversight, issue management, affiliate reporting, methodology, other administrative activities as needed); maintenance of the audit universe, annual risk assessment and planning; internal metrics; and the Quality Assurance and Improvement Program (e.g., QA and training).

The Audit Services Operations Associate Director role is a direct report to the Head of PPG, and will primarily be responsible for overseeing, improving, and enhancing the processes, controls and efficiencies supporting audit operation activities. This role will work closely with the other members of PPG and senior management within the Department related to quality assurance, methodology, and training needs, and be responsible for the control and completion of operationally important activities (e.g., data management, external data requests, vendor management oversight) within the Department. The role will have high visibility and will frequently work with and present to the Department’s Leadership Team, Chief Audit Executive, and senior management of the Department.

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong competencies in strong analytical, leadership, and organizational skills; able to work independently and be comfortable with virtual teams and managers; strong writing and communication skills; project management; ability to be work with individuals that have diverse backgrounds, and be a strong team player.

  • 10+ years of financial services and/or internal audit subject matter expertise
  • A college or university degree required, with advanced degrees preferred
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CISA, CIA, ACA, ACCA) are preferred
