1. Purpose of Role

The role is responsible for the overall statutory & tax compliance aspects for a group of legal entities assigned. This role is required to ensure accurate and timely preparation of statutory financial statements and tax computation while adhering to policies and procedures, includes Target Operating Model (TOM), Service Level Agreement (SLA) & Internal Control Financial Reporting (ICFR).

2. Key Results / Accountabilities

Statutory & Tax
  • Prepare accurate, timely and compliant annual statutory financial statements
  • Perform adequate analysis to ensure the accuracy of the Statutory Financial Statements
  • Prepare accurate and timely tax reports, tax provision file and record the direct tax related adjustments
  • Prepare any other compliance documents as necessary
  • Manage & coordinate statutory audits and any other audit related work
  • Manage & coordinate any direct or indirect tax related work
  • Provide Statutory and Tax Accounting support to the stakeholders
  • Monitor open or overdue items & communicate & follow up accordingly with the appropriate functions
  • Understand, review and comply to ICFR requirement as defined in risk control matrix
  • Back up for team members
  • Liaise with internal/external stakeholders as and when necessary

Closing
  • Support month end RTR process as a reviewer to ensure timely completion of closing and reporting
  • Perform review on any off-book adjustments and work with OpCo to reduce or minimize
  • Perform reconciliation between statutory & management book

Continuous Improvements
  • Implement best practices and proactively identify, propose and implement continuous improvement opportunities in existing processes within the team
  • Participate in continuous process improvement projects and plans roll out internally, region and global

Others
  • Involve in managing transition activities with the Project Team
  • Involve in ad hoc activities or project
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Manager

3. Qualification & Experience and Competencies

Qualification and Experience
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field, and professional qualification (ACCA/CPA/MIA etc.)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in General Ledger operations
  • Knowledge of statutory accounting and awareness of tax laws (IFRS/MFRS/MPERS)
  • Shared service centre experience
  • Experience in using ERP system
