The Head of Risk, Compliance and Assurance is the organisation's professional lead on all aspects of risk management, compliance and assurance, ensuring that appropriate business-wide arrangements are developed, embedded, integrated, and operating effectively and efficiently across the organisation.

Description
There are three key aspects to the role:
- Assurance: You will act as the Secretary to the Audit and Scrutiny Committee and manage the day to day relationship with the professional services firm providing internal audit services under a managed outsourcing arrangement. You will develop an assurance strategy and framework and will develop and operate underpinning organisation-wide assurance arrangements
- Compliance: this involves leadership of a number of compliance areas within the remit of the team (e.g. Conflicts of Interest, Anti-Bribery) as well as coordinating and driving improvements across compliance areas owned by other parts of the organisation(
- Risk management: this entails ensuring that the University's risk management arrangements enable the organisation to manage its risks and to meet regulatory requirements.
Profile
The ideal candidate will have or be able to develop a sound understanding of the organisationand excellent knowledge of risk, compliance and assurance. You will lead by consensus and will be skilled in integrating the various elements of risk, compliance and assurance in the devolved organisation. A key dimension of the role is the ability to provide advice, guidance and support to colleagues across the organisation and to lead integration of the University's risk, compliance and assurance activities and ultimately improvement in compliance.
You will need to work with influence, and persuade colleagues to deliver an ambitious agenda across a large and complex organisation where responsibility and accountability for risk, compliance and assurance are often devolved to a significant degree. The size and complexity of the organisation requires the post holder to work as a senior central role, through delivering, managing through their team, influencing, persuading, coaching and support to enable and empower colleagues across the organisation to deliver an ambitious programme of work.
