Job Description 

Your field of responsibility
Your main objectives will be to:

  • Seek to support the governance, initiatives and engagements around the Regulatory landscape affecting the IB Business, including but not limited to
  • Assist in understanding & analyzing the impact of a diverse & evolving set of Regulations and Regulator expectations, both functional and jurisdictional, on the IB Business in conjunction with Compliance.
  • Ensuring articulate communication of this analysis & resultant requirements to the IB Business through well-thought deep-dives & read-across
  • Assist Team head in development of a robust network within the Industry for understanding & utilizing market perspectives on the Regulatory Landscape for consideration across the IB
  • Develop Subject Matter Expertise for senior business partners (within IB & Corporate Functions, LODs and multiple LEs), by maintaining an ongoing dialogue with them & seeking their engagement and views towards better Regulatory compliance & on key Regulatory projects
  • One of the key points of contact for the IB Business to assist them in the implementation & tracking of key Regulatory projects ensuring delays are prevented or appropriately highlighted
  • Support the IB Controls engagement on Regulatory reviews & examinations with adequate data, analysis, issue finalization and facilitate determination of valid & practical remediation with appropriate business agreement
  • Develop outstanding business & partner relationships through a strong and focused understanding of the challenges faced by them in overcoming the continuously evolving Regulatory, ESG & Business landscape.

We are a controls' function, embedded within the first line of defense and closely aligned to the IB businesses and SLA partners. The team focuses on strategic design, control framework enhancement and automation in line with regulatory drivers and internal focus areas. There are a lot of collaboration, design and brainstorm sessions to ensure we get to the right solution. The team works closely together and also directly with the business partners for each relevant deliverable and flexible working supports the global nature of the work that we undertake.

Your skills and experience

As part of this role, you will work for the IB Controls & Regulatory COO portfolio. The following highlight some of the key attributes we are looking for:

  • Significant experience within financial services or in an international investment bank
  • Established Track record in understanding the Regulatory landscape across a number of jurisdictions impacting Investment Banks or similar institutions
  • Be able to gain consensus through conversations & an open mind, lead people through collaboration rather than conflict, thereby delivering on complex & challenging initiatives
  • A strong background in Global Markets and Investment Banking products
  • Proficient in Business risk, policy & processes, governance framework and need for controls
  • Result oriented, hardworking individual who demonstrates a proactive and positive approach
  • Outstanding problem solving skills that facilitate simplification of complex issues for faster resolution, combined with good attention to details and the ability to thrive under pressure
  • Ability to structure and prioritize multiple tasks and challenges simultaneously in a fast paced multi-jurisdictional working environment
  • A sound prior record in collaborating with business partners and can work across global teams through an understanding & acceptance of cultural diversity & of regional regulatory complexities
  • Demonstrate willingness and an ability to learn
