Job Description Summary
Group Internal Audit (GIA) has an exciting opportunity to join the Credit Risk Audit team as a Portfolio Lead. This role provides the opportunity to shape as well as lead Credit Risk audits in accordance with the Group Internal Audit plan. You will lead varied and complex assurance activities covering our Business and Commercial Banking and Consumer Lending businesses. To be successful in the role, you will ideally need to have direct, relevant experience of managing credit risk or providing oversight or assurance over credit risk controls.

Job Description

This is a key role within the Credit Risk Audit team, providing leadership to the team and support to the Head of Functions and Audit Director when needed.

You will use your expertise to support the team to identify, plan, execute and lead risk based audits, and to build and manage stakeholder relationships relevant to your assigned portfolio to ensure that we focus on the key risks that matter most to the Group through business monitoring.

Through this you will harness a deep understanding of business strategic priorities, risks and controls to provide reliable, independent assurance, and the ability to agree appropriate management actions to enhance the control framework.

What we're looking for:
  • The ability, skills and experience to build credibility and trust with senior stakeholders - demonstrating strong communication, auditing skills and business understanding to effectively influence and negotiate with stakeholders.
  • Excellent knowledge of credit risk management, as well as the key areas of risk facing the commercial and consumer lending businesses.
  • Strong project management skills and a focus on delivery are essential and applicants should be self-starting and proactive in order to manage their portfolio and deliver the audit plan in line with expectations.
  • The ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams - collaboration skills are essential to achieving the Group and function's objectives. Applicants should be comfortable leading teams, supporting team members and management to deliver on team and personal goals. Applicants should be used to giving and receiving feedback, coaching and being coached to deliver their best performance.
  • A drive for personal development is important with a mixture of training, coaching, feedback and on-the-job experience helping to develop and improve individual and team performance.
  • The ability to assess risks, identify key controls, and document appropriate test plans to deliver on audit objectives. Applicants should be able to effectively and efficiently identify control gaps, as well as draft and clear findings with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience of data analytics would be desirable, the ability to utilise and analyse data to highlight control gaps and areas for improvement would be of benefit.
  • Knowledge of change management, the Group's technology and infrastructure landscape and data strategy would also be desirable as the Group moves towards the new platform model.

Do you have these skills?

In addition, we're looking for specific experience and technical competence in a number of areas. While we do not expect you to be an expert in all, you'll have a deep knowledge of some of the following:
  • Client Assets (CASS) and Ring-fencing regulation and how it operates at LBG;
  • One Risk And Control Self-Assessment (1RCSA);
  • The process of risk appetite setting and monitoring;
  • Customer outcome monitoring and testing;
  • Customer Vulnerability;
  • Elements of effective governance;
  • The role of 2nd line oversight; and
  • Risk reporting, including data quality.

What you'll get in return...

It is a very exciting time to join LBG. Together we'll continue our market leading, ground breaking transformation and you'll help us realise the Group's vision to become the Best Bank for Customers. Here, you'll grow as a person and develop your career.

  • Discretionary Performance Share Award
  • Generous pension contribution
  • A flex benefits cash pot you can adjust to suit your lifestyle (4% on top of your basic salary)
  • Private health cover
  • Share schemes
  • 30 days holiday plus bank holidays
