In a nutshell

This role is responsible for business partnering the Sainsbury's Business Services (SBS) team who own our newly formed relationship with Accenture. The job holder will work cross-functionally with business stakeholders to deliver the strategic and financial plan by providing support and challenge on commercial decision making and investment cases.

What you need to do
  • Ownership of Investment Appraisal models and Post-Investment Review analysis
  • Interrogate and challenge solutions from Accenture to ensure they are fit for purpose and are financially viable, working directly with the Accenture team
  • Identify risks and opportunities, and take the lead in prioritising these, working with the business to manage them
  • Working with the SBS team to ensure robust forecasting within all internal forecasting processes; Latest Views, Budget and Corporate Plan
  • Help scope, establish and embed financial processes and reporting in the respective finance teams for this new business relationship
  • Maintain robust accounting procedures, working closely with Centrals Finance and Group Finance teams in particular
  • Being an active participant in project meetings to ensure finance have a voice in the room (regularly being the only Finance seat at the table), ensuring that we are fully aware of all impacts on the project plan
  • Business Partner the Director of SBS and teams on future initiatives and projects in their respective areas
  • Stepping up to cover for the Head of Finance where needed
What you need to know and show
  • Professionally Qualified Accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA)
  • Effective communicator, influencer and challenger with senior stakeholders, including audiences of varying financial and commercial acumen
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and a bility to present complex information in a simplified manner
  • Proven history of effective prioritisation and ability to push back when appropriate
  • A self-starter, and a strong team player that can work independently, spotting the areas to focus on and assisting in the decision-making process
  • Strong commercial acumen with a focus on driving excellent financial and commercial performance
  • Strong Excel and numerical skills, with an aptitude for turning data into analysis and insight
  • A proven track record of financial control, but also the ability to develop and maintain such an environment
  • High levels of pace, energy and resilience
  • Must have a strong eye for detail and a passion for accuracy
