Financial Accounting Analyst

Sick of commuting to the CBD? Randstad have teamed up with a well renowned Government department in the education sector to recruit a Financial Accounting Analyst. Conventionally located in Dandenong, your new organization offers on site parking and a hybrid working arrangement.

Key Duties:

This position is accountable for supporting the Manager, Financial Accounting & Reporting with the provision of high quality financial leadership and support to the organization. Key focus areas include capital project analysis and budgeting, asset accounting and management, tax compliance, internal and external analysis reporting.

Financial Analysis and Reporting
  • Manage capital and strategic analysis reporting.
  • Develop budgets/forecasts and monthly performance variance analysis
  • Manage and lead the accuracy of the Institute's Fixed Assets Register in accordance with the relevant Accounting Standards and Ministerial Directions
  • Record asset additions, disposals and transfers in a timely manner and prepare the monthly Fixed Asset Reconciliation and Work in Progress Reports.
  • Perform and/or coordinate the annual Fixed Asset audit and report on the results.
  • Preparation and distribution of monthly management reports, including distribution of monthly Fixed Assets progress reports to stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures in relation to information capture and advice to managers and staff for the Institute's legislation requirements including FBT, GST, etc.

Skills Required:
  • Degree in Business or Commerce - Majoring in Accounting
  • Completed CPA or CA program or demonstration of study towards the qualification
  • Experience in asset management
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in partnering with the business to develop budgets, review and analyses actual performance to budget
  • Significant experience with complex financial systems such as Finance One
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in providing advice of a business nature
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to plan and coordinate activities, prioritise, monitor and evaluate workflows and continually assess and improve effectiveness of financial processes
  • High order organisational, analytical and problem- solving skills
  • Demonstrable aptitude for self-direction and motivation, and work autonomously with minimal supervision
