The Financial Planning and Analysis Senior Lead Analyst is a senior level position responsible for providing management with an analysis and insight of Citi's financial results in coordination with the broader Finance team. The overall objective is to contribute to directional strategy as well as utilize in-depth specialty knowledge to provide advice/counsel on the evaluation of financial reports of Citi's current and projected performance.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead creation of Citi financial reports and liaise with finance teams to provide a summary of financial trends and insight to senior management
  • Lead analysis of forecasts, strategic and operating plans, and create monthly outlooks in partnership with segment, business, and country financial planning and analysis teams
  • Prepare analytics in support of CEO Reviews including business initiatives
  • Lead analysis of Citigroup's product profitability
  • Develop relationships with key partners and senior management to influence behavior and decision making
  • Prepare presentations and analysis for the team and in support of the CFO
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience within financial services
  • Experience providing financial analysis for monthly forecasts, strategic multi-year forecasts, and annual budgets
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills with an emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge in additional systems including Oracle, Essbase, and SAP
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master's degree preferred


Job Background/context:
  • EMEA Citi Commercial Bank (CCB) is a profitable business making ~$430MM of revenues and ~$270MM of EBT, with key investments expected to drive double digit growth in the coming years.
  • CCB has a formal presence in 31 countries in EMEA with ~500 total direct staff covering ~4,800 clients.
  • CCB is a coverage business offering the full suite of ICG products to its clients.
  • The role requires close partnership with CCB regional and country management and is expected to drive various regional initiatives on business productivity, performance, and expense management
  • In addition to the direct business, the CCB Finance lead role requires high-level engagement with senior stakeholders in TTS, BCMA, Markets as well as functions including Risk and Operations.
  • The role will work in close partnership with EMEA ICG FP&A team and Mumbai CSC to meet FP&A deliverables, as well as the Global/other regions CCB Finance partners
  • The financial structure of the business in EMEA is as follows:
    • Commercial ICG reflects the asset business (exposures + revenues + CoC) along with housing all direct expenses and headcount and incoming charge-ins/outs from various support functions.
    • In addition, CCB takes a client view of financials for CCB clients

Key Responsibilities:

Performance Measurement: Analysis of key movements and trends in Business P&L, Balance Sheet, efficiency and return metrics; including linkage with business drivers and client trends
  • Reporting: comprehensive management information for business, leveraging Performance Management Toolkit and driving enhancements as required.
  • Assessment of Market and Competitive Environment: including competitive benchmarking, macroeconomic/environment assessment, market share analysis/wallet sizing, and understanding trends in client revenue, volume and deal pipeline
  • Driving Business-specific aspects of Capital Planning process, including coordinating business engagement for CCAR. Review and update changes to forecast Model used for Plan, CCAR, Outlook and coordinate with Transformation, Global CCAR and Regional finance and risk teams on a regular basis.
  • Productivity: Work with Business and Finance teams to understand and improve efficiency and returns, particularly Operating Efficiency, RoA, and RoTCE. Drive execution of specific initiatives in partnership with Business on productivity framework
  • Drive strategic initiatives related to business expansion and growth, working closely with CCB business and EMEA ICG FP&A team, including ad-hoc analysis
  • Supporting Senior Management: Co-ordination and preparation of presentation material and talking points for any internal or external meetings
  • Supporting Senior Management: Being a trusted advisor
