Job Description

Markets Product Controller team are searching for candidates to join their team supporting the EMEA Rates & Rates Exotics business.

The role entails independent, accurate and timely analysis of daily P&L and Risk for the trading desk. It’s expected the candidate will have extensive interaction with Front Office trading desk, Market Risk, and wider support functions team therefore strong communication skills, self-motivated & independence are essential to work directly without material supervision. Additionally, it provides the successful candidate with an excellent opportunity to learn and gain an in-depth understanding of the Interest Rate derivatives while getting exposure to the highest ranked Rates desk in Europe.

For EMEA Rates, the desk trades a wide range of interest rate products such as Bonds, Repo, Interest Rate Swaps, IR Futures, Options on Futures, Bond Futures, to name a few across various curves and tenors within multiple European markets. Candidate is expected to think on their feet and deal independently with the wider regional teams.

The product control function provides support to the financial controllers and trading desks to ensure that the P&L, balance sheet, and month end close procedures are done correctly and accurately.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily P&L reporting and month-end close processes
  • Strong understanding of trade valuations and risk factors (Greeks)
  • Provide detailed analysis and reporting on the financials to desk heads, business managers, and senior finance management
  • Responsible for adding continuous improvements to the process and infrastructure.
  • Drive coordination across various front & back office support functions to ensure resolution of control and reporting issues in an accurate and timely manner
  • Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and / or other team members
  • Serve as an analytical and project support resource for product control
  • Ability to become a people manager, team builder and collaborator
  • Contribute to career planning/development for junior team members and individual performance appraisals
  • Handle various ad-hoc requests on a daily basis

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in Product Control, Financial Control, Accounting, or related area preferred
  • Solid understanding of financial products would be advantageous
  • Strong leadership skills, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong control mind-set and being proactive in implementing initiatives and changes
  • Ability to work well under pressure both with team members and colleagues across the wider organization
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail including a strong control focus
  • Outstanding problem solving / issue resolution skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to develop strong working relationships
  • Natural curiosity to understand tasks/processes and challenge the status quo
