We are seeking a qualified Financial Accountant to join an exciting high profile Energy & Natural Resources business based in Reading. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you'll provide accurate & timely delivery of financial performance reports and take an active role in process improvement, fully utilising your financial expertise to support business decision-making.

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you'll provide accurate & timely delivery of financial performance reports and take an active role in process improvement, fully utilising your financial expertise to support business decision-making.

Description

This role will provide an opportunity to apply your accounting knowledge and skills to implement process improvements by reviewing and identifying key controls and improving the efficiency of reporting. This is a unique opportunity involving the development of relationships with key stakeholders, engaging with the business to add value whilst developing the role and enhancing your skills.

The Financial Accountant will provide technical accounting expertise to stakeholders across the business.

The role involves:

  • Managing the external audit
  • Review of methodologies of regulatory accounts processes from a capex perspective
  • Monitoring and developing financial and project governance controls, as well as various ad-hoc projects
  • Supporting the business and implementing process improvements reporting on the fixed asset register and associated annual capital programme expenditure

A key focus for this role is interpreting the observations and points raised by external auditors and subsequently developing, delivering and embedding process improvements to address them.

You will be responsible to closing the books and ensuring that figures are correctly reported in line with IFRS as well as supporting on regulatory submissions.

Profile

Candidate Criteria:

- Qualified with a professional accounting body (e.g. ACA, ACCA or CIMA)

- Strong communication skills

- Good knowledge of core financial systems and general accounting procedures

- Proficient in MS Office applications (particularly Excel)

- ERP software experience (e.g. SAP, HFM, Oracle or similar) would be advantageous

- Ability to work independently, target focused and result driven, strong ability to bring about change, energetic and driven taking a hands-on approach and develops an atmosphere of confidence, respect, and trust, acts as a role model within the team, strong service and customer orientation.
