Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful applicant will be working in the UK compliance team, part of the EMEA Corporate Tax and Planning group, and will report directly to the Executive Director managing the UK compliance team. Responsibilities will include some/all of the following, either within the UK compliance team or working with others in the wider group:

  • Identification and monitoring of entities within the charge to UK corporation tax;
  • Month end procedures, including:
    • tax monthly provisions and associated tax journals;
    • year to date results schedule;
    • certification and substantiation of tax balances in the general ledger;
  • Tax provisions and disclosures for UK companies' statutory accounts (this will include liaising with the auditors) and associated accounting journals;
  • Corporation tax computations and returns;
  • Liaising with the New York Tax Department
    • Quarterly reporting packs
    • Forecasting of taxable profits
    • Reporting tax liabilities for inclusion in the US foreign tax credit calculations
    • Ad hoc queries
  • Bank Levy; preparation of monthly accruals, forecasting and annual returns
  • CATA;
  • Dealing with HMRC enquires;
  • Manage the Group Payment Arrangement, including preparation of and arranging payment of quarterly instalment payments;
  • Group relief claims and surrenders;
  • Involvement with other ad hoc corporate tax issues as required e.g. acquisitions, changes to legislation, restructures etc
  • Provide an oversight function for the corporation tax requirements for certain EMEA countries

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • A qualified professional with a recognized accounting and/or tax qualification
  • A self-motivated team player who is able to prioritize and work to demanding deadlines
  • A knowledge of the UK corporation tax regime with strong tax accounting skills
  • Knowledge of the bank levy rules would be helpful
  • An individual focused on operating within and enhancing the existing tax risk and control framework
  • Experience of working in a tax department of a US investment bank an advantage
  • Experience of Onesource Corporation Tax software
  • Experience of SAP or CDGL an advantage
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Excellent research, analytical and reasoning skills
