Assistant Accountant

This is a fabulous opportunity for someone who wants a varied role, as you will be responsible for the accounts of a c. £10.5 million turnover business within the Group. The Finance Manager is willing to provide training and support where necessary and pass down extra responsibilities to the successful candidate in the future, if desired.

Client Details

My client is a growing and well established Group of business based in Bilsthorpe, which has a combined turnover of c. £16 million. This role has arisen because the current Assistant Accountant has been promoted to Finance Manager.

Description

You will be reporting into the Finance Manager, who is CIMA Qualified, and you will also be working alongside an Accounts Assistant. Your duties will be extremely varied, as you will be dealing with all aspects of finance (from transactional finance to management accounts) for one of the businesses in the Group, which has a turnover of c. £10.5 million. Once you have received all of the necessary training, your duties will include, but will not be limited to:

• Producing management accounts up to trial balance
• Processing VAT returns
• Various reconciliations, including reconciling cash receipts, bank statements, petty cash, credit card expenses payments, ebay accounts etc...
• Processing inter company invoices
• Accruals and prepayments
• Salary journals
• Reconciling balance sheet accounts
• Monitoring trade
• Recording costs and analysing margins
• Identifying any changes or discrepancies in the accounts and flagging to the General Manager, discrepancies may relate to margin decreases, increase costs etc...
• Purchase and sales ledger
• Ad hoc analysis and reporting
• Supporting the Finance Manager with budgeting, forecasting and year end duties

Profile

To apply for this position, you do not need experience of all of the above, as training will be provided. However, you must have must have at least 4 years' experience of working in accounts and experience of some of the above duties.

Job Offer

• A salary between £27,000 and £30,000
