Description of business unit
Sitting within the Finance Strategy and Change team, the objective of the Continuous Improvement team is to support delivery of Finance Strategy and Priorities by:
- Helping to build Finance for the Future
- Reducing risk in core Finance result thereby underpinning Control and Simplify
- Underpin improvements in staff engagement as unrewarding tasks allowing focus on driving the business which supports delivering a High Reaching Team and Executing Group Strategy
Purpose of the Role
The Continuous Improvement roadmap is a workstream within the overall Finance Transformation programme which is high profile and high priority within Group Finance.
The Finance Automation Lead will develop a team with responsibility for the technical development and improvement of complex manual process. You will contribute towards Group Finance's multi-year transformation journey, through the development of tactical data and reporting solutions, the creation and embedding of automated processes and input into the technology strategy and implementation plan.
Key Accountabilities
Working collaboratively with the Head of Finance Transformation the key accountabilities are:
- Accountable for the design, development and implementation of innovative technical solutions that minimise manual input and effort within Group Finance processes using BOI approved technology
- Lead a team of internal and external developers, ensuring resources are aligned to priorities to deliver timely, high quality solutions and act as the partner concern point to resolve issues and risks.
- Build relationships with key partners within Group Finance, and across the wider Group to refine recommendations and support the design, development and implementation of strategic level data solutions as needed.
- Risk assessment and quality assurance for solutions delivered to ensure that they stay in sync with EUC policy, with appropriate checks/balances and are dynamic enough to adapt to foreseeable change
- Management of change to drive speedy adoption of new solutions into BAU team with appropriate documentation and training
- Track and demonstrate agreed capacity savings/risk reduction as a result of implanting new solutions
- Provide weekly progress updates to Finance Transformation governance forum
- Be a figurehead/ champion for innovation and continuous improvement across Group Finance

This job can be done anywhere in the Republic of Ireland with the primary office location as Dublin to which travel will be required. Exact frequency to be agreed with manager.
Essential Qualifications
- Experience of delivering technical and business projects and solutions in the financial services sector
- Experience in using agile methodologies
- Ability to understand business/finance requirements and solve complex process and data problems and simplify our ways of working
- Proven knowledge in testing complex hypotheses and performing investigative analysis across a wide variety of functional domains.
- Demonstrable experience in the design, development and implementation of data led technical solutions.
- Solid attention to detail and high levels of accuracy and a strong team ethic and flexible approach in order to meet ambitious objectives and targets.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to work on own initiative.
