Description of business unit

The Process Improvement Team is made up of the following teams: Process Mapping, Operational Risk Data & Reporting, Risk Assurance and an expanded 2LOD Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) team. This team will focus on revising and enhancing how the Group controls and monitors operational risk into the future with process maps and RCSA's at the core of operational risk management.

Purpose of the Role

Lead the close and continuous partner engagement across all Divisions in order to align with Process Mapping objectives and standards. Drive outcomes committed in delivery plans and lead the review and challenge ensuring mapping of end to end processes is consistent and to a high standard. Leading the resource supply and demand of modellers to enable divisions to process in line with commitments.

Key Accountabilities

Reflecting the senior level of the role and its responsibilities, the individual must be able to demonstrate:

  • Build and maintain close and continuous customer engagement across all Divisions in order to align with Process Mapping objectives and standards
  • Be responsible for the management, maintenance and governance of process maps and Group Process Universe
  • Set the governance and standards for changing key/end to end processes and lead the change governance process for the Group process universe and the process ownership model, both in a programme and a 'BAU' environment
  • Engage senior partner across the organisation in order to develop and embed sustainable process mapping and process management capability to enable process led risk management.
  • Lead the establishment of the Process Improvement Programme team
  • Coordinate Group-wide end-to-end process mapping to a high and consistent standard across each division in all jurisdictions (incl. any new acquisitions)
  • Supervise the implementation and embedding of the Group's Process Ownership model across Group divisions in line with SEAR and regulatory obligations.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Consistent track record of leading divisional or Group-wide change.
  • Strong understanding of end to end process mapping for process led risk management and setting the standards, management, maintenance and governance of process maps.
  • Extensive experience of operating at a senior risk management level in a financial services organisation
  • Credibility, gravitas, resilience and independence to influence proposals or challenge decisions relating to Process Mapping
  • Proven track record in operating effectively with Group businesses and functions demonstrating excellent co-ordination, influencing and relationship building skills.
  • Extensive experience of leading a team of professionals including ensuring there are appropriate skills, capabilities and up to date industry knowledge on the team to provide a best in class process mapping approach and outcomes.
  • Experience of leading the continuous improvement of processes, controls and working practices in order to deliver process improvements and performance insight across multiple business initiatives.
  • Consistent track record in the areas of solving problems, delivering quality, achieving results and thinking strategically.
