Functional Job Title: Tax Analyst

Reports To: Custody and Fund Accounting Manager (FLM)

Dept/Div: EMEA Self Custody, Tax

Grade: Senior Associate and above

Basic Purpose

  • Processing of German Tax, handling of tax reclaim forms, distributing of tax information, coordinating of tax issues and acting as an information source for the various areas in the GmbH and SSBT requiring information on country and client specific taxation issues.
  • Combining his/her problem solving skills and know-how about country specific tax regulation and reclaim processing as well as technical knowledge, the Tax Analyst independently handles the daily issues occurring in the Tax Department.
  • Point of contact for internal (GmbH & SSBT) client services, client operations, IRCoE and tax operations departments in respect of German tax related issues.
  • Takeover tax related tasks and key responsibilities next to daily business

Major Responsibilities

Reclaim Process

  • Generate EFP source file based on EFP file received by Global Tax Service Quincy and send to the German Tax Authority
  • Generate Tax Vouchers for German paper reclaims and submit the reclaim package to the German tax authority
  • Act as single point of contact to the German tax authority and update Global Tax Services Quincy in respect of rejected reclaims and issues with reclaims
  • Inform Global Income about paid reclaims

Withholding Tax Process

  • Handle withholding tax on German income payments for our global client base and submit the withholding tax to the German tax authority
  • Process withholding taxes for tax liable clients on interest payments and generate tax statements
  • Handle tax processing for investment fund distributions and accumulations
  • Bookkeeping of internal tax accounts
  • Issue single and accumulative tax vouchers for our Bank Mulit clients upon request

Overall Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Act as single point of contact for special clients and processes
  • Review and update SLAs / PSDs concerning tax topics
  • Create specifications for change requests and application improvements
  • Test new application functionalities
  • Participate as subject matter expert in projects
  • Write an update procedures
  • Critical review of daily processes and process enhancements

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Appropriate educational training in finance/taxes/accounting/business or equivalent experience
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated communication skills and service orientation
  • Proficiency in English

Skills/Knowledge

  • Knowledge of MS Office Applications
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and adapt to changes
  • Team orientation
  • Strong sense of quality and commitment to interact with internal or external clients effectively and professionally
  • Knowledge of tax law regulations and market standards over the various countries
  • Proficiency in English
