Job Description
Finance Risk Data Operations works closely with various internal partners within all lines of business, as well as other group functions including Technology Office, Risk Reporting, Risk Policy, Regulatory Risk, Risk Middle Office, Business Middle Offices, Control & Oversight and the firm wide Data Quality Team.
The Financial Controller Analyst are placed under a specific asset class team consisting of Wholesale Loans, Deposits, Securities, and Derivatives. The individual will part of a global operations team located across three regional hubs based in Delaware, Bangalore, and Warsaw. As a Financial Controller Analyst you will have an opportunity to work with multiple subject matter experts based in various parts of the world, all specializing in areas of finance data management, data architecture, and regulatory reporting. Additionally, the analyst will be part of a dynamic team that is engaged in production support, managing the firms data management strategy, and participating in the firmwide financial roadmap. The role involves interaction with all levels of the organization, with frequent presentations to senior leaders within the firmwide controllership and business architecture team. The role offers tremendous growth opportunities. If hired, the candidate will be placed into an asset class team, and assigned an asset class portfolio to support products ranging from Loans, Deposits, Securities, and Derivatives. Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of a portfolio of asset class files and be responsible for the E2E data validation and accuracy of assigned product.
- Support the daily and monthly regulatory reporting activities for daily and monthly Liquidity, Credit, and Financial Risk reporting. Some of the key activities will involve the following but may vary depending on reporting requirements:
- Perform assessment of data timeliness by ensuring that your asset class portfolio is available for analysis.
- Analyze data validation failures by reviewing validation rules for your assigned asset class.
- Analyze day over day market volatility for your asset class portfolio to identify any data economic issues.
- Perform adjustments when needed to correct any data validation issue prior to impact to any reporting processes.
- Analyze and investigate data issues that may impact the firm’s liquidity risk, credit risk, and finance risk process.
- Ensure all operational controls are being performed per the standard operating procedures, and all activities are in line with the firms governance / internal control policies.
- Partner with the Business Architecture & Technology department to support all infrastructure development and testing as required.
- Partner with the bank’s lines of business to understand key business drivers, infrastructure, and products, to help identify potential business risks and assist with the creation of process efficiencies.
- Partner with existing reporting teams to document the current process (system architecture, data flow, reconciliations, controls, etc.).
- Represent the Finance Risk Data Operations team at meetings with technology and lines of businesses.
- Provide project management support on projects for processes related to data management and financial reporting
- Regularly present metrics and key productivity indicators to the management team to share production updates.
- Create process documents, analyze data profiling trends, and perform data mining tasks to pinpoint anomalies/gaps in the finance data models.
- Collaborate with other team members and peers to drive resolution of data quality and systemic issues across all risk management.
- Reconcile month end data from upstream risk management systems to the bank’s general ledger.
- Develop, Test, and Monitor Data Validations rules designed to detect gap gaps against the firm’s reference data.
- Act as a point of contact for lines of businesses and reporting teams to provide explanations on reconciliation breaks, data validation failure, commentaries, and sign offs.
- Analyze and review data leveraging Microsoft Office products such as Excel, PPT, and Word.
- Develop scorecards to provide transparency into reconciliation breaks and data quality issues linking them to top side adjustments, and tracking their progress for remediation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree Required (Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Information Systems, or Business Administration preferred but not required)
- Master’s Degree preferred but not required
- Keen interest in financial products suites and data management.
- Excellent written and verbal communications; be able communicate complex topics at all organizational levels.
- Candidate should have a “can-do” attitude and display problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office products (Advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Proficiency with semi-complex formulas, and macro creation.
- Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure and commitment to deliver under tight deadlines.
- Candidate should display sound time management skills, be organized, and a good listener.
- Strong team player and able to work with all levels of employees.
- Self – motivated and able to work independently when required
