About the role

Balfour Beatty have an exciting opportunity for a Pensions Centre Finance and Property Manager to join our growing team in Prescot

We can accommodate either full or part time applications

As a Pensions Centre Finance and Property Manager you will:

  • Contribute to the Pensions Centre strategy as a member of the management team.
  • Manage the work of the Pensions Centre Finance & Property team
  • Be responsible for all accounting and financial reporting matters related to a 4 billion Trust-based DB & DC pension fund
  • Be responsible for all Pensions Centre property, facilities management and health & safety matters.

What you'll be doing

  • Manage pension finance service delivery to pension fund trustees
  • Manage pension finance service delivery to company
  • Manage relationship with pension fund auditors
  • Prepare pension fund annual report and accounts
  • Engage with pension fund auditors to facilitate audits as required and ensure compliance with statutory requirements and appropriate statements of recommended practice
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and ensure investment movements have been correctly posted and tie into custodian records
  • Monitor the receipt of contributions in line with the schedule of contributions and Trust deed and resolve any issues arising
  • Ensure sufficient cash is disinvested each month to pay the pensioner payroll
  • Ensure procedures are in place to meet the quarterly finance functions for new longevity swap
  • Liaise with corporate auditors as required
  • Analyse and control all expenditure incurred in running the Pensions Centre and prepare budgets and  reforecasts as required by the company
  • Be responsible for all aspects of VAT and taxation
  • Operate security and authorisation procedures for all payments
  • Complete Office of National Statistics quarterly returns
  • Maintain Pensions Centre risk register
  • Supervision of Pensions Centre facilities management and health & safety functions

Who we're looking for

  • Educated to degree standard and with a strong educational background. Qualified Accountant
  • Extensive pensions experience in audit or preparation of pension fund accounts
  • DB and DC pensions knowledge and experience
  • Strong pensions legislative and technical knowledge
  • Full range of investments knowledge including derivatives, repos & longevity swaps
  • High level of commitment to delivery and willingness to meet deadlines whilst not compromising quality
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and manage multiple streams of work
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain in a concise and clear way
  • Self-motivated and able to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft packages, notably Excel and Word and willing to learn how to use other software packages
