We are seeking a Group Controller for Germany to join our senior finance team. In this role you will be responsible for German, Luxembourg and Netherlands Holding Companies, German international distribution company and legal entity Controllership of one German manufacturing company and a dormant French company. This role will have supervisory dotted-line responsibility for the other German manufacturing/holding companies and the Swiss manufacturing company. This position will also be accountable for IFRS/statutory and tax/legal/accounting matters, in liaison with local finance team/Shared Service Centre/consultants who maintain transactional accounting records and prepare reporting package for BPC consolidation
 

Your Responsibilities:

  • Controller for:
    •           the Germany Holding Companies Germany (Montabaur and Ritterhude),
    •           the Luxembourg Holding Companies,
    •           Klöckner Pentaplast Europe GmbH & Co. KG (Distribution entity with foreign branches in Italy, France and Netherlands),
    •           KP Netherlands (holding company) and KP France (dormant)
  • Overall Controller for Klöckner Pentaplast GmbH manufacturing entity balance sheet and combined P+L legal entity
  • Supervisor for local site controllers for other German and Swiss manufacturing entities so can act as “single point of contact” for German-speaking entities.
  • Coordinating with Group Tax, Legal, Controller Group, SSC and consolidation team. 
  • Support Group Tax/Finance/Treasury projects including Special Projects, leading in Germany/Luxembourg where required
  • Coordinating with local site controllers  in order to facilitate most efficient procedures for legal/tax compliance
  • Coordinating with auditors and external consultants
  • Coordinating with HR and Financial Planning & Analysis “FPA” (Corporate/ Divisional), including confidential HR/legal work
  • Monitoring and reviewing monthly results for entities under and with local controllers for German/Swiss production sites, following up on variance analysis
  • Correct financial treatment of special accounting items including restructuring approval processes and corresponding monitoring
  • Responsible for accounting (IFRS and local GAAP) for the Pension plans in Germany
  • Balance Sheet reviews of the German/Swiss/Luxembourg entities
  • Lead cost center planning process for entities under scope 
  • Strategically proactive role to look for efficiency gains and review opportunities for continuous improvements as well as “step changes”

Your Profile:

  • University Degree in accounting or related field(s)
  • Qualified accountant preferred (e.g. Wirtschaftsprüfer or international accounting qualification)
  • “Big 4” audit experience is a plus
  • German statutory accounting and tax skills
  • Sound accounting knowledge in accordance with IFRS
  • Fluent English and German language skills, further knowledge of European languages ​​is major advantage
  • Great organizational skills
  • Excellent excel, powerpoint, IT skills
  • Experience of Integrated IT systems like SAP (essential) and J.D.Edwards E1 (very useful)
  • Strategic thinker with excellent analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, interpersonal, and relationship building skills
  • Team player with demonstrated ability to lead and influence others outside of their direct-reporting lines
