Job Description:

Finance Control:

  • Manage and facilitate monthly/quarterly/yearly financial close to ensure smooth month end closing process and meet reporting timelines
  • Review monthly/quarterly/yearly financial statements including group consolidation, to ensure accurate financials by applying appropriate accounting principles and standards, Companies Act, pronouncement and etc., and aligning to internal management direction or decision and group reporting direction and requirement
  • Review information requested by Group Tax in order to complete tax computation or tax audit/investigation to ensure proper and sufficient information are provided to address tax matters
  • Review monthly inter-company charging or billing to ensure charges are in accordance with proper documentation and computation
  • Working closely with external auditors, effective communication with all involved parties and ensuring timely resolution of audit issues
  • Establish and maintain policies, processes and procedures to support timely, reliability and accuracy of financial data on the day to day operations of the group, safeguard the company assets and optimise the operational efficiency and effectiveness
  • Assist in set-up new operating power plants in local and overseas to ensure there is proper system and internal controls to safeguard the company assets, timely and accuracy of financial reporting
  • Assist in preparation of management and board papers on any matters a and when required to ensure adequate information is communicate to management and board for decision making and proper approval is sought
  • Provide support to corporate support department on financial related matters to ensure financial implication and accounting treatment are dealt with on timely and accurate manner
  • Lead in process improvement in financial reporting to ensure accuracy and timelines of various stakeholders’ requirements

 

 

Project Control:

  • Review annual project budget and periodic forecast for on-going project to ensure completeness, accuracy and timeliness of data
  • Review, monitor and control on-going project budget and weekly/monthly cashflow requirements to ensure project cost and payment are spent is in accordance to approved financial model and payment milestone schedules respectively
  • Manage and monitor funding requirement to ensure receipt of funding is aligned to project payment schedule and in accordance to funding agreement requirements including financial covenants
  • Review and monitor financial covenants to ensure in accordance to the financing covenants requirements
  • Finance business partner to project team and work closely with project team in providing financial advice and input to support any issue arises, and communicate to users
  • Regular review, analyse and monitor actual project cost against budget to ensure costs are kept within the budget, and highlight significant variance to project manager/director
  • Compile, review and analyse project financial information prepared for:
  • management decision making and monitoring purposes; shareholder reporting to ensure in accordance to their requirements and meet reporting timelines; and financing trustee monitoring to ensure in accordance to financing covenants requirements  
  • Establish and maintain project finance policies, processes and procedures to support timely, reliability and accuracy of financial data on the day to day project operations and safeguard the company assets
  • Independent review project completion progress to ensure recording in the financial record is correct and supported and tracking the cost is within the approved contracted value

 

 

Business Development:

  • Review and/or perform financial due diligence and coordinate with external advisor as and when required on potential new business acquisition to ensure all accounting issues are highlighted to management for decision making
  • Review and/or perform assessment of accounting treatment and financial implication on potential new business acquisition and provide recommendation of proposed accounting treatment in accordance with appropriate accounting standards

 

 

People Management:

  • Lead, coach and provide guidance to the team members as and when required to ensure smooth running of day to day operations
  • Set team goals and objectives which align to department/company goals and objectives Any other assignment as and when required by superior

 

 

Job Requirements:

  • Professional qualification in accountancy and/or finance (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, etc) or Degree in Accountancy and/or Finance
  • 12 – 15 years of work experience in related field with minimum 10 years in handling group consolidation
  • Experience in project accounting and power industry are added advantage
  • A member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants with sound technical knowledge of applicable accounting standards and financial reporting requirements, group consolidation, tax requirements and other related law/compliances
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office applications, SAP system and financial modelling
  • Good communication and writing skill Able to work independently under tight deadlines
