Chandler Macleod in partnership with one of Australia's Leading Builders, are seeking an experienced National Payroll Officer, located in Altona, Victoria.
This is a permanent Full Time role, working business hours, 8.30am - 5pm, Monday to Friday.

The purpose of this role is to:
- process weekly and monthly payrolls, ensuring payments are made in a timely manner and in accordance with respective awards, EBA's or contracts.
- calculate and process payment of sales commissions monthly
- undertake various payroll reporting and compliance activities
Key Accountabilities: - Compile employee time and payroll data from time sheets and electronic records
- Processing of weekly and monthly payrolls
- Calculation and processing of payroll entries to HR3
- Maintain records, leave forms, timesheets and associated timekeeping data
- Issue and record adjustments to pay related to previous errors or retroactive increases
- Process and issue employee payslips and statements of earnings and deductions
- Record employee information, such as new starters, transfers and resignations, in order to maintain and update payroll records
- Review time sheets, wage computation and other information in order to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
- Compile statistical reports, statements, and summaries related to pay and submit them to appropriate departments.
- Process monthly and annual Superannuation, Payroll Tax and WorkCover payments & reconciliations
- Keep informed about changes in tax and deduction laws that apply to the payroll process
- Prepare and balance period-end reports, and reconcile issued payrolls to bank statements
- Provide information to employees and managers on payroll matters
- Complete a range of ad hoc duties payroll support and administrative duties as required

- Resolve problems through interpretation and application of established guidelines
- Organise own work to achieve required outcomes
- Provide sound technical advice and information to the public and colleagues, within established guidelines
- Provide guidance and assist with the development of less experienced employees
- Ensure that every pay run is processed on time and accurately.
- Ensure that Payroll tax return is reconciled and lodged on a monthly and yearly basis.
- Ensure that all other statutory requirements are met
Typical Qualifications & Experience: - Demonstrated experience in a similar role, preferably within a sales commission-based environment
- Demonstrated proficiency in HR3 or another similar payroll system
- Demonstrate knowledge of state and federal reporting and payroll compliance requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team
- Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Proactive and innovative approach to problem solving
- Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook computer
- Strong attention to detail with excellent customer service skills
