Sitting within the Finance Strategy and Change team, the objective of the Continuous Improvement team is to support delivery of Finance Strategy and Priorities by helping to build Finance for the Future, reducing risk in core Finance result thereby underpinning Control and Simplify processes.

We underpin improvements in staff engagement as unrewarding tasks, allowing focus on driving the business which supports delivering a high functioning Team and Executing Group Strategy.

Purpose of the Role

The Finance Automation Developer will bring the technical expertise to improve and automate complex manual financial processes and reporting. You will be comfortable working with large data sets, deconstructing and reimagining workflows using a variety of analytical technologies.

Key Accountabilities

  • Working collaboratively with the Finance Automation Lead, Business Analysts and Subject Matter Experts the key accountabilities are:
  • Accountable for the design, development and implementation of innovative technical solutions that tackle business and finance difficulties, reduce risk or deliver on new regulatory or other reporting requirements
  • Support speedy adoption of new solutions based on existing technologies into BAU team with appropriate documentation and training
  • Risk assessment and quality assurance for solutions delivered to ensure that they are aligned with EUC policy, with appropriate checks/balances.

You will work as part of a multifaceted and ambitious team, and be a driving force behind transformation in Group Finance. You will gain significant exposure to developing data and automated process solutions to extract value and insights from numerous, disparate, complex data sources.

You will also gain exposure to solution architecture, strategy development/execution and project management.

Essential Qualifications

  • BSc or MSc in Engineering & Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or Data Engineering or equivalent.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in the design, development and implementation of data led technical solutions.
  • Ability to understand business/finance requirements and solve complex process and data problems to simplify our ways of working with innovative solutions
  • Experience in using agile methodologies
  • Solid attention to detail and high levels of accuracy and a strong team ethic and flexible approach in order to meet ambitious objectives and deadlines.
  • Excellent time management and interpersonal skills with the ability to work on own initiative
  • Excellent technical database development skills to include Alteryx, SAS, SQL, Teradata, Access, Excel

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Design Thinking / Scrum Master or other Project Management qualification
  • Experience of delivering complex technical and business projects and solutions in the financial services sector
