In-House Tax Trainee - Cheshire - Salary paying £25,000 to £30,000 + Benefits
Based in the North West, our client is a rapidly growing Service Provider, who is seeking an individual to join their business as Tax Trainee in a busy in-house tax team.
The Job:
Supporting the Head of Tax, this is an opportunity for an individual whom is interested in studying for the Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) qualification and will manage the direct and indirect tax compliance process and in-house tax project work.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Take responsibility for the review and submission of a portfolio of Vat returns covering UK, Ireland and Europe
  • UK corporation tax returns - support the production of UK and Irish tax computation. As your level of experience of UK corporation tax grows then you will be able to work on preparing draft computations and returns within the tax team
  • VAT - you will review draft VAT returns prepared by colleagues in the finance team, and check that the VAT treatment of transactions is correct.
  • Using profit forecasts, calculate the corporation tax payments required for each legal entity, and ensure they are made at the right time
  • Transfer pricing documentation - assist the Head of Tax in preparing and updating transfer pricing documentation which will satisfy the requirements of the different countries where we operate. You will also make reports of transactions between different group members where required by the tax authorities
  • Transfer pricing - ensure that the group's transfer pricing policy is being correctly implemented by carrying out reviews of profitability of group companies
  • Submit claims to tax authorities to ensure that where we make payments of interest and dividends, we claim benefits under the appropriate tax treaty to ensure we do not suffer withholding taxes
  • Deal with routine tax enquiries from tax authorities
  • Support with departmental admin, including monitoring budgets, billing from external advisors etc.
  • Assist the Head of Tax in project work as required. Typical projects could involve R & D tax credit reviews, tax due diligence of acquisitions, capital allowances reviews of major refurbishments or enquiries from tax authorities
