Job description

We are looking to hire an experienced Associate into our growing Valuations team with a remit to execute the delivery of external valuation projects, as well as assisting with internal engagements such as audit reviews.  Our new colleague will liaise directly with the Managers in the team in delivering work of exceptional quality and insight.

The Valuations team is at the forefront of this growth mandate.  The team sits within the combined Financial Modelling and Valuations team in the Corporate Finance faculty and are looking to hire commercially focused and ambitious candidates at the experienced Associate level to drive the growth forward.  We are growing quickly and are highly entrepreneurial and ambitious, providing significant opportunities for career development and advancement which are transparent and entirely merit-based.

The Valuations team provides independent and insightful valuation advice to clients in the UK mid-market, with a focus on AIM listed PLCs and PE-backed private companies.  The advice can be relied upon by our clients for a variety of purposes – from straight commercial transactions, through corporate restructurings, tax planning, financial reporting, and through to expert witness work in a dispute scenario.  We work across sectors and encourage our staff to be generalists first and to develop sector specialisms in line with their own interests.

Responsibilities

  • As an experienced Associate, you will be responsible for executing valuation projects from beginning to end, including client take-on, day-to-day management of junior staff on the assignment, communicating with the Client and ensuring that the Managers are kept informed and involved at the relevant points through the engagement.
  • You will liaise directly with colleagues in other departments (e.g. across Corporate Finance and Audit) where valuations is providing services to other areas of the Firm.

Personal and Professional Qualities

  • Our new colleague will be commercially focused, with a willingness to over time develop their own network in order to identify and pursue business development opportunities.  We are looking for someone who will be able to execute a variety of valuation projects independently whilst managing client expectations.  Most importantly you will need to be a team player who is willing to go the extra mile for the good of the team.
  • Previous experience working in a valuations team in a professional services environment would be advantageous.
  • ACA/ACCA/CFA (or equivalent) Qualified
  • It is essential that candidates will have been involved in, and delivered, valuation engagements in a variety of contexts (eg. financial reporting, commercial transactions, expert witness work).
  • Previous experience assisting audit teams with the review of valuations in a financial reporting context would be beneficial.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills is essential
