Our partner is a recognised organisation working to offer greater safety to people in conflict-affected communities. As a result of a significant increase in the amount and complexity of their grant portfolio in response to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, they are seeking a finance manager to add capacity to an existing country finance manager.
The successful individual will need to be able to manage a varied and complex workload, and be able to work in an environment where the organisation’s operations and response to the crisis is still developing. You will need to be comfortable working across different bases in Ukraine as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversight of the finance function across all programme locations, including that of delivery partners. This includes, but is not limited to financial accounting, payroll & tax, ensuring that all statutory, regulatory and grant compliance requirements are met, and the financial policies and procedures are followed as per the organisational guidelines and expectations.
- Lead on the financial planning for the programme; in the preparation of project-specific and programme-wide budgets; developing tool & processes for better budget management and reporting; and preparing budget vs. actual analysis and commentaries.
- Grants management – supporting in the development of programmes budgets and forecasts, ensuring proper allocation of funds, financial monitoring of grant, and in the management of financial risk in the programme.
- Ensure proper cost allocation across projects, ensuring any shortfalls are identified and met; manage cashflow requirements and forecasts.
- Ensure adequate banking and cash provisions are in place.
- Support the Country Director in identifying and managing financial & other emerging risks.
- Lead in the preparation of financial statements, donor reports, and in preparing for external and internal audits.
- Staff management and development – developing the capacity of finance staff.
Requirements
- Qualified or part-qualified accountant with strong accounting, financial management, and reporting writing skills.
- Analytical & financial modelling skills, able to critically review complex financial data.
- Strong finance business partner, able to coordinate and review information from implementing partners.
- Grants compliance, management and reporting experience, specifically experience of managing a complex portfolio government and corporate.
- Astute & succinct, with excellent communication skills, and demonstrable experience of working with finance and non-finance staff.
- Experience of working in a management position, and overseeing staff in person and remotely.
- Resilient and culturally sensitive, willing to work in a challenging environment.
- Previous experience of working in a finance role in a humanitarian context is highly desirable.
The salary being offered is net of local taxes for expatriate candidates. The organisation provides generous living and subsistence benefits, and leave allowances.
