Stockport Council are looking to recruit an internal audit or finance professional to support the work of the Internal Audit Service. You will be part of a small, dynamic and proactive team that delivers independent assurance to a wide range of key stakeholders throughout the Council.
The service is highly regarded throughout the organisation and the role provide significant opportunities to develop key skills and experience to progress throughout the team.
You will be expected to deliver a wide and varied range of complex risk based audit reviews, advising on the adequacy of internal controls to different levels of management throughout the Council.

- Supervision of junior staff will be required.
- You will maintain exceptionally high standards in relation to working papers and testing schedules to support your work and conclusions.
- You must be an effective and strong communicator able to deliver recommendations and possible solutions to complex projects and systems.
- You will have excellent report writing skills.
- The ability to extract and analyse large volumes of data (financial and other) is key to the role.
- You must have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
