Your role at a glance
As a member of the Professional Practice team, this key role contributes to the capabilities of Group Internal Audit (GIA) in its overall primary role of supporting the Group Audit Committee and Executive Management in the protection of the assets, reputation and sustainability of Legal & General.
This role involves managing a portfolio of data analytics (DA) work to support GIA's delivery of the audit plan, opportunity identification and development of automated dashboards and directly supporting the training of audit staff in data analytics technology.

This role involves managing a portfolio of data analytics (DA) work to support GIA's delivery of the audit plan, opportunity identification and development of automated dashboards and directly supporting the training of audit staff in data analytics technology.
What you'll be doing
- Work collaboratively with HOAs (and SAMs) to identify their DA needs both at annual / Half-Year planning and during bespoke audit planning at the start of the audit.
- Lead the delivery of the Quarterly DA Planning meetings with the IT and Change Audit Team, to assess the DA plans for the Quarter, identify the need for specific technology or DA support
- Manage your own resource planning to maximise the delivery of DA across the audit portfolio
- Delivers timely, high quality analytical outputs that inform and evidence the audit opinion
- Assist in the development of analytics test plans, identifying the data needed to answer the audit questions
- Assisting with the structuring of data requests that 'get it right first time'
- Support auditors in their use of the existing suite of dashboards enabling maximum leverage of information across GIA
- Supporting auditors with data ingestion, storage, cleansing etc.
- Advises and coaches GIA audit staff on the use of technology tools and data, to develop capabilities within the function.
- Coach teams and individuals to enhance their understanding of and ability to use: the suite of dashboards; the DA tools (tableau, Alteryx, PAF Now); and to develop knowledge of the most appropriate DA techniques for each audit.
- Deliver training to GIA colleagues on effective DA techniques, tools, effective visualisations, or case studies to enable the data-led IA function vision.
- Work in collaboration with the other members of the Professional Practice Team to ensure that the latest data practices are reflected in GIA's methodology
- Support the Head of Data in developing automated dashboards that provide perpetual visibility of key measures and controls: requirement gathering, dashboard design and some support of live (productionised) dashboards.
What we're looking for
- Either Graduate level with a degree in a mathematical/IT related subject, or professional qualification related to data/IT or demonstrable equivalent analytical experience at this level. XX
- Understanding of general IT controls; and risks and controls related to the use of data extracted from the Group's business applications, including a working knowledge of GDPR requirements around storage and deletion of data
- Understanding of internal audit to the extent necessary to shape data requests
- Some experience of using the outputs from operational / risk management tools e.g. risk systems, HR systems, Finance/data systems/data etc.
- Analytical work related to the production and presentation of analysis, management information and dashboards
- Provision of support services to a professional team and coaching team members in the use of analysis and tools
- Previous experience in an operational management, operational risk management, or internal audit practice management role is an advantage but not essential
- Builds good working relationships with all colleagues and stakeholders including mid-tier management
- Demonstrable accuracy and completeness of work performed
