Senior Financial Controller Retail Ireland: An excellent opportunity for an ambitious Finance professional looking to broaden their experience in Banking. The successful candidate will manage a professional team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, build out expertise on stakeholder management and navigating a large organisation, together with supporting strategic initiatives within Group Finance.

This Senior Financial Controller ensures successful the delivery of the Retail Ireland and Director Business Banking (DBB/ BIF)) monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual financial reporting close processes, ensuring delivery is on time and to a best-in-class quality.

Purpose of the Role

This Senior Financial Controller (Retail Ireland Divisional and Director Business Banking (DBB/ BIF)) manages a team of Finance professionals in the delivery of the Retail Ireland and Director Business Banking (DBB/ BIF)) monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual financial reporting close processes, ensuring delivery is on time and to a best-in-class quality.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage the delivery of the Retail Ireland Division's Primary Statements and the Statutory close for the Interim Review and Annual Report processes.
  • Coordinating the key preparation, review and close of the quarterly FinRep and SRB reporting processes.
  • Lead the Retail Ireland Divisional and Director Business Banking (DBB/ BIF)) Financial Control teams through the monthly and quarterly close process ensuring that underlying processes review and controls have been completed in accordance with best practice.
  • Provide meaningful commercial commentaries/reports analysing business unit performance (from both a Revenue and Cost perspective) and present to senior stakeholders within the Division and Group.
  • Responsible for the review and delivery of subsidiary entity statutory financial statements, and the facilitation of the audit and tax review process for the Business Banking subsidiaries, alongside the overall presentation of the final deliverables to the Board members.
  • Responsible for the preparation, review of key technical accounting papers and ensuring compliance with the General Accounting Policy Unit deliverable dates.
  • Manage all risks in the end-to-end team processes, ensure risks are identified, understood, and actions taken to mitigate.
  • Forge strong relationships with key stakeholders in Retail Ireland Banking, and the wider Finance Division, ensuring a best-in-class service delivery.
  • Support Divisional Financial Controller with implementing key Group Financial Control and Finance Division strategic initiatives and business projects.
  • Lead a team of Finance professionals, ensuring appropriate learning and development. Proactively foster talent and build team competencies.
  • Working collaboratively with the Group Finance team, identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to deliver process efficiencies and improvements.
  • Working closely with the Transformation Project and proactively support changes in the system architecture in terms of increased automation of processes.

Essential Qualifications

Qualified accountant with five years PQE.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience of managing a large team in a Financial Control, or other control-based function.
  • Technical accounting acumen, with the ability to apply expertise in a timely manner.
  • Exemplary stakeholder management skills.
  • Must possess the ability to influence and promote collaboration to deliver business and Finance objectives. High energy, bias for action, drive for results, strong resilience and focus on execution.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Past SAP experience.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word and MS Powerpoint.
