Role Summary

The Regulatory Reporting landscape continues to evolve and with the rapid change, the Senior Analyst, Regulatory Reporting role has been created. The role will oversee and manage all aspects related to the regulatory reporting landscape for all the Australian legal entities including those under Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) and Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) and any other relevant regulatory authority. The successful candidate will work closely with the Controller, Treasury and Business functions.

Reporting directly to the Australian Financial Controller, you will leverage existing subject matter expertise and acumen to shape and drive the evolution of Finance’s Regulatory Reporting in line with industry / best practices with strong governance. This role will interact and build relationships with senior management in Northern Trust’s Australia Management working closely with the CRO, Legal and Head of Compliance.

What you will do

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory reporting requirements including APRA prudential standards, ASIC reporting requirements and any other local regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Leads regulatory reporting obligations.
  • Oversight, review and submission of all regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Maintaining a robust control process for the oversight of regulatory responsibilities for the Finance and Treasury functions including regulatory change.
  • Responsibility for change management, interpretation, implementation of new regulatory requirements as prescribed by our regulators and identifying gaps in financial regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Responsible for annual review and documentation of all regulatory reporting requirements including contingency funding plans, liquidity and investment policy and treasury procedures ensuring governance process is adhered to in a timely manner.
  • Contributes to continuous improvement initiatives across reporting processes and solutions.
  • Liaises with Second line of defense Regulatory Reporting (within the Compliance function) and Risk Monitoring and Reporting (within the Risk function) SMEs on reporting requirements.
  • Respond to information and data requests from relevant committees and other Business Partners.
  • Assist in the Internal and External audits relating to the regulatory reporting environment including liquidity and credit risk.
  • Work closely with business units and other support areas to evaluate new business initiatives and internal reorganisations to ensure the potential capital and liquidity adequacy implications are fully articulated and clearly understood by the key stakeholders.
  • Presentation to relevant Management Committee or Risk Committees
  • Contribution to the team:
  • Interacts with business partners, regulators, and internal and external auditors on regulatory topics
  • Assists management to work towards the Company’s strategic goals

Your Knowledge/Skills

  • 5-7 or more years of experience, preferably in Regulatory Reporting, compliance or risk management; or equivalent related experience
  • Knowledge of risk management
  • In-depth knowledge of regulations, local laws and the financial statutory environment acquired through formal education and work experience is required.
  • Communication and analytical skills are necessary to consult with partners/clients, and analyze information and apply regulations.
  • Experience in stakeholder management or a proven ability to influence stakeholders
  • Experience in leading/facilitating cross-functional committee meetings

Highly Desirable

  • Strong working knowledge of regulatory updates for the Wealth Industry, with a focus on ASIC and APRA
  • Any relevant financial certifications is preferred
  • Experience in the Financial Reporting (i.e. PeopleSoft general ledger) and Regulatory Reporting (Adenza) systems would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of corporate accounting would be advantageous
