This is a unique opportunity to join the Financial Crime Data Science and Analytics area to lead the Strategic Transaction Monitoring team of Data Scientists and Engineers. Our purpose is to combat financial crime with data, analytics, and data science to protect our customers and to help people and businesses to prosper. This role will report into the Head of Financial Crime Data Science and Analytics and will be required to deliver models to increase efficiency of the bank's financial crime control framework. The team is tasked with several functions in relation to detection of potential financial crime. In this 'hands-on' role you will lead a sub-team of data scientists and quantitative analysts to design and build statistical models for the detection of financial crime risk and build the required data preparation pipelines.

Interacting with internal stakeholders in financial crime control operations, regulatory governance and front office on building scalable production systems and applications.
Building reproducible data pipelines in a big data environment.
Writing, testing and maintaining production-quality code, and design, experiment, and evaluate algorithms, and models.
Improving methodologies, develop new data sources, testing model enhancements, and fine-tuning model parameters.
Communicating with business customers and leadership team with various levels of technical knowledge, educating them, as well as sharing insights and recommendations
Producing and managing appropriate model documentation
What you'll bring.
An expert knowledge of Python and/or R and SQL in a Big Data environment is essential
Practical experience of designing, developing and bringing models into production is a requirement.
It would also be nice for you to have.
Proven stakeholder management experience is also an advantage as the candidate will be expected to interact with internal stakeholders, lead discussions in working groups (this is a 70% hands-on 30% leadership and management role).
High level degree in a scientific/numerical discipline. (MSc, PhD is an advantage).
Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins), familiarity with graph databases and/or network science
Knowledge of financial markets instruments and in financial crime controls
What else you need to know.
This role is currently Milton Keynes based/Home based until corona virus restrictions are lifted, but you will be expected to attend the Milton Keynes office once fully operational.
This is a permanent position.
