Audit Senior - Edinburgh ACE (Audit Centre of Excellence) - Edinburgh

The Edinburgh ACE team has been established to offer more flexibility to our people and a differentiated exceptional EY experience. The Edinburgh ACE team will specialise in the audit of UK statutory financial statements across a broad range of industries.

One of the key positives that has come out of this pandemic has been the demonstration that audits can be conducted without the need to consistently be at client sites. With this in mind, we are creating a new team to be based out of the Edinburgh office where you will gain exposure to clients and engagements from across the UK from the comfort of your home and/or Edinburgh City Centre office in line with our Hybrid Working.

This role is suitable for an applicant looking for either full or part time employment and could offer an alternative to traditional working patterns.

The opportunity

You will help our clients meet their reporting requirements by accurately reporting on financial statements and providing meaningful insights into accounting and reporting matters. You will become specialised in unlisted UK statutory audits.

Your key responsibilities

Everything you will do will come back to providing exceptional audit activities for our clients. Colleagues and clients from a diverse array of backgrounds will look to you first for answers, so you’ll be a high-profile contact when it comes to resolving issues. As you build your knowledge and experience, you’ll become a credible advisor, influencing clients and engagement teams on resolutions that will impact entire industries.

Skills and attributes for success

• Taking a lead on fieldwork, managing performance and keeping engagement leaders updated on audit engagements
• Completing audit processes to increase your technical and business skills
• Engaging clients and providing authoritative advice and professionalism throughout transactions
• Constantly developing your understanding of current market trends and processes
  

To qualify for the role you must have

• ACA/CA/ACCA (ICAEW, ICAS, Irish Institute or equivalent international qualification)
• Significant experience leading the planning, execution and reporting on external audits
• Proven project management skills
• Excellent communication skills

Ideally, you’ll also have:

Experience of applying UK GAAP and IFRS and remote working experience.
