This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the quality and governance of our wonderful park.
The Child Beale Trust, a registered charity, known as Beale Wildlife Park (BWP) is looking to recruit two trustees with leadership skills and preferably experience of animal husbandry, veterinary or zoo experience, and a trustee with commercial legal experience.
The Child Beale Trust was established in 1956 with the object to provide a park for the enjoyment of the people of Oxfordshire and Berkshire. We are in a glorious 350 acre estate on the River Thames between Pangbourne and Lower Basildon. Within the estate is a 30 acre wildlife enclosure and which is regulated as a zoo.
We have exciting plans to develop the animal collection and the wider park to deliver on our values of Conservation, Education and Enjoyment.
Role(s) summary
The competencies required in addition to leadership skills for these roles include:
The key challenges for the board over the next 12-24 months are to ensure that the Trust develops our amazing animal collection, modernises the facilities in the park, to consolidate its position as a leading visitor attraction providing an educational and enjoyable experience for our visitors in Oxfordshire and Berkshire and a wider area through being a trusted member of the community through:
1. Delivering a class leading visitor experience, combining education and conservation with the fun elements of a park.
2. Maintaining and improving the infrastructure of the park.
3. Continuing to grow the Trust through making firm connections with local interested parties particularly in the education sector.
4. Maintaining a strong financial position to enable investment in key areas to enhance the visitor experience.
5. Ensuring that all our staff and volunteers are engaged with our future plans

- Understanding of the welfare and conservation of animal through previous experience of veterinary, zoo practices.
- Experience of corporate governance, financial management, risk and the development of an organisation's strategy
- Legal experience in either the corporate or private sector, ideally with commercial property experience.
