The job: Senior Associate Accountant (Part-Qualified)

We have an excellent opportunity for an ambitious part qualified Accountant to join our team based in Paisley. This is an exciting opportunity to work in an expanding Centre Of Excellence in an organisation considered a global leader in its field which offers great career development and opportunities.
The centre provides financial controllership in the region for two of the Thermo Fisher Scientific groups - Life Sciences Solutions and Special Diagnostics. We are responsible for a large number of entities reporting a total of $2 Billion of revenue per year. This role will be responsible for our SDG Manufacturing business in France & Germany.

What will you do?
  • Ensuring the timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of monthly close activities
  • Evaluating entries for completeness and accuracy
  • Reviewing general ledger activity, researching and correcting account discrepancies
  • Performing balance sheet account reconciliations, including general ledger accounts and sub ledger accounts
  • Management reporting to Corporate through Hyperion
  • Supporting the preparation of Statutory Accounts where required
  • Preparing and submitting of government and other agency returns, including but not limited to Tax returns and government statistics returns
  • Ensuring compliance with Corporate Accounting policies, procedures and controls (Sarbanes-Oxley Act)

Who we are looking for:
  • Highly motivated and detail oriented individual with excellent communication, computer and organisational skills.
  • Experience of month end reporting, statutory accounts, management accounting, balance sheet reconciliations & VAT returns
  • Previous experience in a large scale organisation would be beneficial
  • Excellent attention to detail as accuracy is required in performing all aspects of the role
  • Working knowledge of ERPs (E1 or SAP) (Desired but not essential)
  • High level of proactivity to drive continuous improvement
