Job Summary
Designs and recommends new and/or improved payroll policies or programs. Counsels management concerning the interpretation or administration of the payroll policies or guidelines. Resolves highly sensitive issues related to policies with appropriate internal contacts.
Is a technical expert with in-depth knowledge in area of expertise and strong knowledge of other areas
Must be familiar with all aspects of Payroll processing including payroll production, reconciliation, tax and Time & Labor, and is able to backup any function or process.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
- Administers and processes various corporate human resource programs or staff services within Payroll function. Strategic in developing, implementing and administering these HR programs within Payroll.
- Responds to most complex payroll inquiries from all levels throughout the organization to explain adjustments to pay and tax law changes.
- Designs, develops and analyzes existing policies, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance with state and federal wage and tax laws. Recommends modifications of existing payroll processes to ensure compliance with legislated requirements.
- Monitors payroll transmissions and system inputs; performs more complex system level tasks related to payroll calculations and system processes.
- May lead/manage HR system implementations.
- Resolves highly sensitive payroll issues.
- Researches and monitors regulatory and legislative changes impacting all areas of payroll to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Serves as an expert resource or go to person within a group.
- Encourage, participate and support process improvements within the team
- Reviews work of others, and approves transactions based on SOX requirement to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Handles more extensive, high-profile work
- Responsible for direct interaction with different committees, management and internal/external auditors.
- Project lead.
- Maintains regional payroll calendars and interfaces with HRIT and Global Payroll team to provide same, for purposes of system/process scheduling, interfaces, partner communications, etc.
- Coaches, mentors and trains other members of the team, consultants to enhance cross training and support cover within the department during times of planned and unplanned leave, contributes to performance management review process for the team
- Oversight of day to day payroll processing and functions.
The successful candidate will benefit from having:
- 10 plus years of payroll experience, preferably dealing with multiple countries.
- Must be familiar with all aspects of Payroll processing including payroll production, reconciliation, tax compliance and Time & Labor.
- Ability to be back up to the Regional Payroll Manager to lead and support the team and represent the payroll function in internal and external meetings and projects
- Able to multi-task in a high paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical and problem solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvements
- Knowledge of other areas of Human Resources & Finance, and their impact on payroll production activities
