ROLE:

The successful individual will be part of the EMEA Financial Control team that are based in Limerick. The team adopts a hybrid working model. This team is responsible for the following:

  • Ensuring that the Northern Trust EMEA entities’ financial statements are prepared in accordance with the external statutory audits timetable and in adherence to accounting policy and local GAAP requirements. The team utilise Caseware and Workiva software for financial statement production and tax compliance
  • Completing financial control processes, report production, timely issue resolution and providing adhoc support as required to the EMEA regional finance teams
  • Production of the monthly management accounts and completing the month end close process

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Production of assigned legal entity annual financial statements in line with agreed timelines
  • Utilise Caseware and Workiva software to prepare IXBRL tagging of the financial statements
  • Production of the monthly management accounts for assigned EMEA legal entities
  • Produce the Balance Sheet reconciliations and ensure all documentation and accounting is completed in line with corporate requirements and policies
  • Produce month end analytics and trend data to assist with the review and validation of financial results
  • Provide inputs and information to the audit process and work with the auditors to complete the audit process
  • Work with the EMEA Financial Control team in Limerick to implement standardised process improvements identified in day to day activities
  • Respond to and resolve queries on a timely basis from the Business, Finance colleagues and Head Office as they arise
  • Input to systems and business process projects as required
  • Input to the preparation of Board papers.

SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:

Required Competencies

  • Ability to work as part of a team in the region and as part of the broader EMEA Finance team
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and good attention to detail
  • Ability to react and respond on a timely basis
  • Ability to adapt and react positively in a changing and dynamic work environment
  • Flexible approach towards changing work methods, deadlines and variable workloads

Required Skills

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA preferable)
  • Experience in a multi-currency financial services environment
  • Experience in a corporate financial control environment or accounting practice with a sound knowledge of accounting, reporting and financial control requirements as well as statutory and audit requirements
  • Experience of US GAAP and IFRS would be an advantage but is not essential
  • Good IT skills most notably MS office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
  • Enterprise resource planning (ERP) / General ledger experience advantageous
