About you: 

Are you a part qualified or newly qualified Accountant (AAT or equivalent), with experience working in a volume accountancy practice environment, looking to progress your career and continue your professional studies towards ACCA?

Help us to consistently deliver all Crunch accountancy services ensuring that accounts and tax returns are completed according to statutory principles, professional guidelines and quality standards. Strive to deliver key service and performance standards and targets and enjoy speaking to clients to resolve their queries and provide the best possible service. 

The role will encompass supported professional ACCA studies and will work in a team with the guidance and management of the Accountancy management team. 

  • This role is open to applicants from anywhere in the UK. All we need is for you to be able to work from home in a comfortable, private and distraction free environment.
  • The usual working hours are Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 17:30.
  • We need you to have a solid internet connection (a minimum of 10-12 Mbps upload speed).
  • We'll provide you with all the equipment you need to get set up before you start with us - so there's no need to supply your own.

Role responsibilities:

  • Carry out all accountancy related work, including reviewing and producing year end accounts, self-assessment tax returns, new client take-on procedures, Quarterly VAT returns, PAYE returns etc.
  • Keep up to date with latest changes to tax laws, rules and regulations through attendance at industry courses, webinars and workshops, develop knowledge and skills and maintain Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and Practical Experience Requirements (PER’s) and Crunch Essentials training.
  • Actively promote and manage the additional services delivered by Accountants to support achievement of Crunch’s key revenue growth targets (e.g. accountancy reviews, upselling packages, Client referrals, financial services etc).
  • Assist Senior Accountants in resolving any service issues through to a satisfactory conclusion within department service level agreements (SLA’s).
  • Share knowledge and support the development of the Accountants and Trainee Accountants on the team by coaching and mentoring them. 
  • Conduct effective 121 conversations, set priorities and targets for direct reports, measure progress towards these and embrace the optimisation of the Clear Review performance management and feedback software.
  • Build strong working relationships between Accountants and other Crunch service departments, in particular Client Services.
  • Effectively collaborate with other Accountants across teams to ensure knowledge is shared and that high quality advice and service is delivered consistently to Crunch clients at all times. 
  • Where required, support the Accountancy management team to oversee the work of the Crunch Accounting Network and our outsource partners. This will include the onboarding of new partners and the ongoing audit and review of work produced under contract on behalf of Crunch.
  • Review work produced by other team members in particular accounts produced, personal tax returns and accountancy reference, and provide feedback to the Crunch Accounting Network and its outsource partners.
  • Identify and offer suggestions to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Crunch service proposition, including the development of specialist services to meet specific client needs.
  • Proactively manage own tasks, client queries and team phone calls.
  • Maintain your understanding of the Crunch system, and update this knowledge as new features become available. Support with system testing new features as required.

Role specific qualifications and experience:

Essential:

  • May be qualified AAT Level 4 and/or working towards professional accountancy or tax qualifications (post AAT) such as ACCA or CTA. 
  • Consistent track record of working successfully towards professional qualifications.
  • Previous practical experience of working in a team of accountants.
  • Previous experience of working in a volume accounts environment.
  • Excellent IT skills and able to apply/disseminate knowledge effectively.

Desirable:

  • Previous line management, coaching or mentoring experience (full training and coaching will be given in role).
  • Experience of using cloud accounting software and working in a Software as a Service (SaaS) environment.
