We are looking for someone like that who can:

• be familiar with sanctions laws and regulations including OFAC, UN and EU sanctions and other pertinent regulatory guidance in order to assess a broad range of sanctions risks
• identify and participate in initiatives to automate customer and check screening processes using artificial intelligence and supervise machine learning and other system changes
• coordinate and conduct testing of sanctions securities related controls and recommend changes and/or escalate issues as appropriate
• oversee the sanctions securities lists management process; engaging with the Control Room and other users of the Sanctions securities Application Programming Interface (API) feed to ensure accurate and optimal outputs
• lead and coordinate special screening related projects, including participation in the annual Sanctions Model Validation review and documentation process and fulfilling regulatory reporting requirements
• assist the Regional Head in drafting disclosures and other sanctions relevant notifications related to new program or system rollouts
• be proficient at spotting sanctions screening and program control gaps and developing strategic ways to enhance or change existing controls or introduce new controls where appropriate to Regional and Sanctions Head
• analyze sanctions direct and indirect legal and reputational risks in relation to vendors, third party relationships and sanctions screening related escalations
• conduct/oversee Sanctions Risk Assessments, including data collection, as well as identify, escalate, and resolve data quality related issues arising in screening
• ensure proper maintenance of the proprietary watch lists and keywords sanctions list, oversee the maintenance of OFAC-related logs, cases, entries record documentation for Audit, regulatory and supervisory reviews, and maintain departmental procedures

We are currently seeking a Sanctions Manager for our Nashville team who will be working within the Americas Financial Crime Prevention team. Our role is to assist UBS in the fight against money laundering, fraud, corruption and terrorist financing.

Your expertise
• 4-year college degree or international equivalent
• ideally 5+ years' experience, preferably in Sanctions or AML, with a wealth management, broker dealer, retail and/or private bank, and/or correspondent bank or equivalent experience at a law firm, regulatory agency, financial institution, major consulting firm, government agency, or in law enforcement
• a Law degree or Masters in Business Administration or Finance; ideally two+ years' experience working at the Office of Foreign Assets Control at the US Department of Treasury, Bureau of Industry and Security and/or other equivalent roles in a Supranational Organizations (e.g. UN) is an advantage
• previous experience managing a team or overseeing sanctions project implementation at a regulatory agency, financial institution, major consulting firm, government agency, or in law enforcement
• proficient in interpreting relevant sanctions laws and regulations and have the ability to analyze and prepare in results in Excel, Powerpoint, Visio or other presentation medium
• experience handling sensitive information with a high degree of discretion with a focus on the maintenance of client privacy
• organized and analytical, with the ability to provide practical solutions and prioritize a diverse workload with multiple deadlines
• result-oriented and assertive (you don't shy away from challenging situations)
• detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and change directions based on business demands
