Why does this job exist and why is it critical?​

This is an important role to support Maxis’:
a)    M&A activities across its businesses including Consumer, Enterprise and Network; and
b)    wider corporate development initiatives including developing strategic partnerships
The selected candidate will play a pivotal role supporting the acquisition(s) and strategic partnerships throughout the deal lifecycle – strategy update, target identification, financial modelling, financial analysis, project management, and supporting on deal negotiation, deal closure and post-deal integration.

What are you accountable for?

  • Work with relevant Business Divisions (e.g. Consumer, Enterprise, Network) to support the identification of potential targets

  • Support preliminary assessment of shortlisted Target companies, including: -

  • Undertake research on latest trends in relevant sectors 

  • Analyse / identify and articulate key considerations, risks and issues for Target(s)

  • Develop financial models for M&A / valuation of Target

  • Undertake financial and commercial analysis of potential M&A

  • Support the delivery of Business Cases for potential M&A to the relevant committees and Board for approval

  • Support the execution on transactions, including interaction with potential Target, internal stakeholders, advisors, and financiers

  • Support on coordination and alignment of the due diligence process

  • Support the relevant Business Divisions with post-acquisition integration, and co-ordinate reporting to the Finance team

  • Support preparation of presentation materials for management (incl. relevant committees) and Board updates

  • Support the maintenance and periodic update of the M&A lifecycle governance framework

  • Support on the financial and strategic analysis for wider strategic corporate development initiatives undertaken by the M&A team – this may include structuring and negotiations for strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and large, complex commercial contracts for various internal stakeholders (Network, Consumer, Enterprise)

What do you need to have for this role?

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering and/or Mathematics

  • Preferably with professional certification or on course of obtaining a professional certification (e.g. CA, CPA, CFA, ACCA)

  • Total Work Experience: 2-4 years which 1-2 years relevant experience

  • Logical and critical thinking

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong analytical and writing skills, with a good understanding of commercial and business dynamics as well as keeping abreast of the latest news in the financial and business markets

  • Financial modelling experience

  • Competent in MS Excel, Powerpoint and Word
