Role

Business Services practices at Northern Trust consist of Client Valuation Reporting, Alternatives, Derivatives, and Investment Risk and Analytics Services. Within Business Services, many of our Business Services Consultants are domain specific, whilst some focus on more than one aspect of the client relationship. This role will act as a consultant to clients investing in Alternative Assets, maintaining close contact with clients and/or internal client teams and acting in a proactive manner whilst simultaneously supporting and managing through to conclusion the impact of Alternative Assets issues on the clients financial and valuation reporting. Responsibilities will include prospect client meetings and due diligence sessions with product and sales teams, operational workshops and participation in implementation / on-boarding of new clients with relationship management groups.

The role will operate under general supervision but work independently for the majority of the time in London. This role will serve on large and/or complex projects, also serving as the lead consultant/project manage on smaller or less complex projects. The candidate must be technically competent to act as first point of reference for day-to-day queries for Alternative Assets, and serves as a liaison point between operations and our clients and/or client servicing areas. The candidate must have in-depth knowledge in the Alternative Assets space, plus a strong understanding of Valuation Reporting to be able to intuitively and proactively identify and close out concerns.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Technically competent to act as first point of reference for day-to-day queries, and serves as a liaison to related areas
  • In-depth knowledge of Alternative Assets & Client Valuation reporting, products and supporting teams
  • Independently work with Product, Sales and other partners to continue the development of CVR / Alternative Assets product offering
  • Supports the sales process in directing and/or answering RFP questions, participating in due diligence meetings with prospects or clients, and ensuring resource requirements are accurately captured
  • Provide consultative oversight and expert advice to new clients on operational capabilities. Provide thought leadership on difficult requests and closely manage client expectations to ensure service levels are attainable
  • Strong communication skills required, both verbal and written, to participate and /or lead business presentations, with a penchant for creative thinking and the ability to adapt to stressful situations
  • Develops and evaluates solutions while planning and prioritizing client activities to manage relationships effectively
  • Proactively determines client needs or issues by asking insightful questions and developing the client relationship
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the each client support model, client strategy
  • and future growth potential and subsequently assist to identify cross sell opportunities
  • Possess and display the ability to adapt to an ever-changing and fast paced environment
  • Identifies opportunities and provide input into long term strategy for Business Services.
