GDS Assurance

Sub Function: CCaSS

Position Summary:
The market around Sustainability/ESG reporting is growing at a rapid scale and internal and external demand for solutions and expertise is accelerating. ESG is becoming more critical, more complex, and therefore it is becoming a higher priority across our clients.

GDS Assurance has an opportunity to build on our existing capabilities and investments in ESG to:
  • Capture the brand space around ESG reporting
  • Capitalize on the momentum created by WEF IBC
  • Create a way our accounts can build deeper relationships via an initiative around ESG connecting to sustainability
  • Scale a structured solution, including working towards a tech enabled solution and possibly managed service, to drive further revenues and capabilities around ESG reporting
  • Bring together FAAS and CCaSS capabilities around future of reporting


The ESG leader will be responsible for delivery of our offerings with exceptional quality and maximum efficiency. This will include building a large team of specialists, new solution offerings (including ESG managed service), standardization of service delivery, technology and methodology innovation, including new technology build.

Essential Functions of the Job:

The responsibilities of the ESG Leader role include:

Lead the following CCaSS solutions using Global service delivery framework:
  • ESG/Sustainability Advisory
  • Non-financial Reporting and Assurance
  • Climate Change and decarbonization
  • Environment Health & Safety
  • Digital platforms on Sustainability/EHS
  • Impact assessment/Outcome measurement

Winning in the market
  • Develop and implement plans strategic to GDS CCaSS and global CCaSS that contributes to the business growth, recognizing the risks and opportunities of business/ commercial trends.
  • Manage and grow GDS CCaSS services to our multiple regions, with high quality service across all CCaSS engagements, by being connected, responsive and insightful internally and with clients.
  • Identifying new GDS markets for deploying the global delivery model with the GDS Leadership
  • Create short- and long-term business plans but also align them with the Area/Regional CCaSS leaders and their market leadership plans (MLPs).
  • Focus on developing solutions through the use of technology and data analytics to drive efficiencies in the markets they oversee.

Building High Performing Teams
  • Foster a diverse and inclusive team environment by empowering teams - mobilize the strengths, trust, and collaboration of team members so they are focused on achieving the highest standards and results.
  • Guide team members on technical areas of high risk & complexity, participate actively in performance management & learning process of the team; help build the career value that team gains from working with GDS CCaSS
  • Providence guidance to leaders in CCaSS on the key priorities while managing several medium to large size projects and efficient & effective team allocation to projects and initiatives, based on skills, career goals & clients' expectation.

Quality
  • Take responsibility of managing risk at the practice and engagement level -maintain independence and objectivity, complying personally (and challenging colleagues' and teams 'adherence) with all applicable professional standards, EY policies and regulatory requirements
  • Deliver training on CCaSS methodology and other current market trends and industry issues

Operational Excellence
  • Strong focus on operational excellence, efficiency, and cost. It is critical to improve overall utilization levels in GDS CCaSS, especially at senior and manager levels, while increasing overall retention and ensuring people development.
  • Work with defined geographies and creating targets for delivered hours. Responsible for successfully monitoring the actual results against the budget for key KPIs like number of hours delivered, utilization, linearity of hours etc.


Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:

Leadership
  • Provides insights to Area leadership on the role of GDS in growing the CCaSS business
  • Demonstrates leadership and sets an example to others that quality, exceptional client service, and optimized use of GDS are our overarching objectives, through direct messaging to GDS personnel, and in interactions with engagement teams
  • Identifies appropriate resources for key leadership positions within CCaSS GDS team
  • Partnering with region digital leadership to accelerate development and adoption of digital solutions

Ethics and independence
  • Sets an example of a no defects policy through individual compliance with ethics and independence requirements
  • Teams with GCO and others as necessary to address ethics matters related to Assurance personnel in the GDS and provides input to GDS leadership on appropriate actions

Portfolio Management
  • Being an advocate of change in streamlining GDS processes to make it leaner and more efficient
  • Promotes growth in use of GDS through an optimized service delivery model and the creation of new capabilities

Human resources and education
  • Provides direction to GDS Assurance leadership on the need for specialized CCaSS training based on work portfolio characteristics
  • Critically evaluates, and ultimately concurs with, assignments for individuals in executive roles


Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

The CCaSS Leader should have sound sustainability advisory experience and/or relevant sustainability experience in large Corporates, preferably in an international context. The person should have extensive business development and client relationship management experience, including Account management and stakeholder management.

The person should be adept at technology and service delivery innovation, including new service offerings. The CCaSS Leader should have led large teams in a complex service delivery eco system in order to build and lead highest performing teams at GDS.

Supervision Responsibilities:

The role will report to the GDS CCaSS Practice Leader. The individual will supervise team of Executive Directors, Senior managers, managers, seniors & staff making up the CCaSS team in GDS Assurance.

Other Requirements:

It is preferable that the role reside in India, given the need for proximity to the GDS Assurance Leader and GDS FAAS Leader. Visits to other GDS locations - Philippines, China and future locations (Eastern Europe, Colombo etc.) - will be required. Participation in meetings with global/area leadership and SDM transformation teams may also require periodic travel.

Job Requirements:
Education:

Post graduate degree in sustainability/environment or engineering (chemical/mechanical/civil) from reputed institutes in India with a focus on environment, sustainability and climate change issues.

Experience:

  • Specialised experience in the space of climate change, environment and sustainability preferably with reputed consulting firms.
  • 17+years of experince
  • A deep understanding of the marketplace, as well as commonly used terminology, processes and tools
  • Subject matter expertise on areas like ESG, Climate Change and EHS with sound technical experience with frameworks like GRI, SASB, TCFD, DJSI, CDP, WEF IBC etc.
