Summary:

Experienced functional area expert with technical and functional expertise. The candidate will be an experienced (Product Control) supervisor within HFS responsible for valuation, daily and monthly P&L reporting, end of month pricing substantiation and end of day positional risk reporting. The candidate will have a proven track record of working well with and leading others in a fast paced and dynamic environment. They must have the ability to solve complex problems and initiatives facing the functional area. Where required, liaises with the rest of the business to improve efficiency, effectiveness and productivity.

Major responsibilities:

  • Manages the daily P&L and valuation process covering various cash securities and derivative products.
  • Reviews daily P&L and risk reports, as well as P&L attribution and explanation to clients.
  • Reviews and manages monthly (or more frequently as required) price verification process and associated reporting.
  • Provides leadership and problem solving to the team and partners at a high technical level. Carries out cross-department initiatives and assists with complex client support needs
  • Manages any necessary model review process and associated documentation.
  • Coordinates monthly close process with corporate/fund accounting.
  • Engages with clients and valuation vendors to complete review of new products.
  • Prepares presentations and analysis as required on trading strategies, process improvement, and valuation analysis.
  • Designs and implements process improvements to improve daily P&L and price verification process.
  • Operates Independently, has in-depth knowledge of business unit / function and key upstream/downstream dependency
  • Identifies areas for process improvement and carries out activities that are technically difficult to execute on those improvements.
  • Role is focused on development and initiative management. The partner executes on strategic business activities that cross functional lines.
Knowledge / Skills/ Experience
  • A College or University degree in Finance/Accounting/Economics and/or relevant proven work experience is required / preferred
  • In-depth Functional / Industry Knowledge is required
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills (“solutions-oriented” mindset)
  • Knowledge of profit and loss reporting and related attribution analysis
  • Knowledge of pricing and valuation
  • Ability to learn quickly on-the-job and apply knowledge to develop solutions to complex issues
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
  • Strong excel skills (vlookups, pivot tables, SumIf statements, etc)
  • Highly flexible and adaptable to change
  • Technical skills / systems knowledge (e.g. Bloomberg) is required
