Accounting Assistant
Central Office - Waco, TX
SUMMARY OF POSITION: The purpose of this position is to support the Accounting Department by providing assistance to all accounting functions including accounts payable, receivable, budget, cash management, fixed assets, general ledger, and purchasing. This is accomplished by assisting accounting team members in preparing, finalizing, and transmitting reports; developing PowerPoint presentations; editing and preparing word documents; editing and preparing excel spreadsheets: interacting with employees; providing customer service to the general public; serving as backup to the various accounting functions; entering data in various computer programs; performing administrative duties for the Retirement Committee; and any other duties as assigned. Other responsibilities include general administrative tasks including preparing, copying, scanning and distributing documents; managing internal and external correspondence and mail; ordering office supplies; coordinating meetings and events; and assisting with departmental projects and activities, filling in for the receptionist as needed; processing the department's P-card transactions; managing travel arrangements, and preparing travel authorization and reconciliation forms.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Individual must be detail oriented, with excellent computer skills. The successful applicant must be proficient with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and have accounting software experience. Work requires ability to read papers, manuals, dictionaries, thesauruses, and encyclopedias; ability to deal with system of real numbers; practical application of fractions, percentages, and ability to write reports, prepare business letters, expositions, and summaries with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE & TRAINING: Knowledge of accounting and administrative functions and two years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency with some college coursework is preferred or an equivalent combination of experience.
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $17.81 to $22.71 per hour. This is a non-exempt position.
