Here at Serco, we are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to work across a diverse range of business units to deliver key projects, ensure integrity of financial information and provide key support to the Chief Finance Officer, Head of Finance and Business Unit Finance Directors.

Working across six business units covering several market sectors, comprising of over one hundred individual contracts, you will play a critical role in supporting the finance function to fulfil deliverables for the business.

You will be a self-starter who can own and drive consistent delivery of regular and recurring activities and drive financial process change through the Division. You will be expected to have a passion for the quality of their output, an intolerance for inefficiencies and the ability to drive process excellence.

As part of this you'll:

  • Ensure the effectiveness of the financial control environment across the Division and therefore the integrity of the financial information of the Division
  • Drive, own and embed the changes of process and supporting the culture required to achieve reduction in variation across the end-to-end financial process set
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and process excellence to improve the quality and efficiency of the process that sit within that control environment
  • Build strong working relationships across the business and particularly with Serco's BPO supplier, the UK&E finance team, the Global process owners and the Senior Finance team within UK&E
  • Drive the Strategic Plan and Budget process to meet all required deadlines including presentation packs
  • Maintain the smooth running of the External audit process and the minimisation of audit issues


What you'll need to do the role:

  • You will need to be a qualified Accountant with experience of working in a large and complex environment
  • Up to date knowledge of international accounting standards and industry best practices and accounting skills
  • Experience of delivering change across a multi stakeholder matrix environment
  • Process improvement and shared service centre experience is highly desirable
  • Strong influencing and interpersonal skills
