The Pure Cold Group is a small British group of companies that supplies commercial refrigeration products and services in the UK, as well as into the European, Asian and American markets. The Group has a turnover of around £8 million and comprises Pure Cold Holdings Limited, three UK based trading subsidiaries and two small overseas subsidiary companies in China and the USA. The business has an established blue chip customer base including, Tesco, Waitrose, Mitchell & Butler, Ladbrokes, Whitbread and several Co-operative societies. The company has been very successful over many years and it is anticipated that both turnover and profit will see a significant increase to around £12 million in the year ending 31 October 2021, with a forecast for further growth anticipated in the following financial year. The UK offices are headquartered at Stanford in the Vale in Oxfordshire and there would be regular travel to Telford as well as occasional travel overseas.
The current Financial Director will be taking retirement as planned in March 2022 and so The Pure Cold Group is looking for a Financial Director Designate to join the Group in Autumn 2021 to begin a controlled hand-over process. It would be anticipated that you would transition to Finance Director within six to nine months.
As Finance Director Designate you will support and assist the Directors as the business expands through growth in the UK, North America, Asia & Australasia with input into the strategic business planning. You will lead a small team and have the responsibility for all accounting functions including monthly management accounts, production of year end accounts, company tax and VAT planning and preparation of annual budgets. This hands on but broad role will include overseeing payroll in the UK as well as the pension scheme and all company insurance arrangements. As the number one for finance you will manage the relationship with the bank and appropriately mitigate any FX risks as well as being responsible for all legal, tax and compliance issues in USA. You will hold responsibility for all accounting and IT systems, ensuring that they provide control of the business and allow it to continue to grow.
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with considerable experience in the SME sector, working at all levels from top to bottom of the business. Notwithstanding the senior level and strategic importance of the role the candidate will be expected to be "hands-on" in terms of daily operations and management of the accounts team. Good people skills, IT skills and attention to detail are pre-requisites.
In return you will join a growing company that is entering an exciting growth phase to which you can bring commercial and strategic support including M & A activity.
